LV repairs original owner vs preloved purchase. How handled?

I posted on a preloved artsy I purchased from ebay regarding a lump on underneath of the handle. The bag was made in 2012 and the seller purchased in Feb of 2013. The bag looks brand new but the underneath of handle has a lump underneath. I wonder if, since the bag still looks new, if I can bring it in to LV to have it replaced (hopefully complimentary as the bag looks new) regardless of whether I purchased it from ebay preowned. I have the receipt and tags, dustbag and box and the bag is authentic.

When you bring a bag for repair do they "look you up" on the computer to see if you are the original owner or doesn't it matter. Can anyone help?

Nope! It does not matter.. If they ask (which they usually don't) just say it was a gift.
All LV cares about is that it's authentic. I have had two preloved wallets repaired and they never asked me anything about them.
Hope this helps! ;)

You may even be surprised by what they offer! Bad thing is it varies and you won't know until you take it in. I really hope they replace the handle for free! Doesn't look right.

Let us know what happens!

I haven't went in for a repair but I had to get a replacement part for a pre-loved. If they look you up it'll be because they want to see if you're a customer there (purchased before, recent purchase etc) not because you are the original owner. Lots of people are gifted LV for holidays/bdays and also hand me downs from parents/family. I think it would be hard to track down "original" owner because of that. Being the original owner doesn't matter. Hope you get your handle replaced for free or not as expensive.

I agree with the others. I purchased my Metis preloved in early June and within two days of it arriving I realized it had three tiny cracks in the canvas on the top rim. I was so upset! My bag was in excellent condition as well (purchased Feb 2013 just like yours) and I also had the receipt so I took it in to see what could be done. The gal took photos and sent them off and told me she'd get back to me as soon as she heard back (it was a small store in Neiman's and didn't have a repair specialist in store). She did look me up in the system and I told her that she wouldn't find the bag under my history as it was a gift. I left the store and she called within 10 minutes and told me to come back in as they were replacing the bag.

That is great customer service! I had my vernis wallet for about 3 months before the glazing started chipping but I was only offered a repair so it's awesome they replaced your bag!

I've taken a NF that I purchased from ebay a few years back and I took it in for repair a few months ago. No problem, no questions. And I took it in without the dust bag and when I got it back they had it in a dust bag. Score

I had a similar experience as some of the others. I have a neverfull DE MM which I bought from Yoogis. It was made in 2013 and I bought it early in 2014. The bag was in amazing condition...essentially brand new...but after using it for only a handful of times, I noticed there was a crack in the leather edging. I brought it into my local LV. They did ask when I bought it and I told them it was a gift. The SA told me that the charge to replace the trim was $170, but that given how new the bag is that they might replace it free of charge. She said I had to wait until it came back to know if there would be a charge, so I signed something that said I agreed to pay up to the $170. It took about 6 weeks to get it back, but they did replace the trim free of charge.

yes go in and say it was a gift. They will probably repair for free as it is a very weird problem it is having? lol If not free they will still repair it xo

When I brought in my preloved Ikat, I actually carried it into the store loaded with stuff to show them. I only brought the receipt (no dustbag or box) which was dated 1+ year ago. LV basically treated me as if I am the original purchaser, they didn't ask me why the name and address portion was cut out of the receipt by the previous owner, whether my bag was a gift, etc. They only asked for my details in order to issue me a receipt for them to take in my bag for evaluation. I had a great experience and actually 'earned' from that bag: http://forum.purseblog.com/louis-vuitton-clubhouse/the-im-krazy-for-ikat-floral-club-810764-125.html#post27289062

LV's customer service has always been excellent for me!
