I'm after a daily use bag. I run around after two little ones so need a good shoulder/cross body bag that can be zipped or clipped up. It needs to hold a good amount of stuff - separated pockets are ideal to help keep things organised. It will get bashed around a bit but I will take care of it as much as possible. Ideally will take an iPhone 7+, large LV wallet, makeup pouch, keys, sunglasses, maybe even an iPad mini. Probably the odd few toys lol

I've narrowed it down to two bags:

LV pochette Metis:
- great size, fits everything
- lots of negative feedback about the glazing coming away and melting - I don't have time and tbh I'm not impressed by potentially having to replace or mend a bag regularly when it costs that amount. I'm not sure if quality has improved but as this will be an everyday bag, I need it to perform iykwim!
- good casual bag but is it worth paying $2,400aud for a casual bag (particularly if quality issues)
- I wear a lot of black - will it look crap as it is brown -is it difficult to coordinate outfits etc?

Gucci marmont matelasse shoulder bag:
- lovely bag more glam then the lv - is it too much for an everyday bag - running around football fields, shopping, soccer practice, school run etc?
- not as big and no big internal separating compartments. I don't think I could fit as much in it as the LV
- no known quality issues, however it is a new bag so tbc....
- will the leather stand up to everyday wear?

I looked at both today. I was not as impressed by the LV as I thought I would be but the size and design is on paper exactly what I need. I'm very worried about the glazing issue though and as it is for everyday use it's likely to happen. I am not sure whether I will get sick of the monogram pattern? But I guess I can sell it if I get sick of it. It's very functional and ticks a lot of boxes but the quality issues are my biggest concern.

The Gucci gg marmont is gorgeous but wonder if it is overkill for a casual type bag? I love the look of it but it's not as functional as the LV. It won't hold as much as the LV.

Which will hold its value more if I decide to sell in a year or two?

Which would you buy considering the above points?

it sounds like neither fits your needs, since you have negatives about both. find a different bag, instead of accepting a bag that is too small (the gucci) or plagued with repair issues (the lv)

I have both these bags and I love them both. Although my pm has had quality issues as well I would buy this bag again and again. It is much better for every day casual use than the marmont however the marmont is stunning. I think the canvas will hold up better than the leather especially since you won't have to worry about the "bashing". The marmont is a very soft leather. The LV will have Better resale in my opinion but since it sounds like you're going to be using as an everyday bag you will get your money's worth out of it anyways so I wouldn't worry about the resale. Good luck deciding!!!

i only have the PM and love it. i don't have problem with glazing on my bag and if they do in the future i think it's normal
it really is a good size bag and i love the outer zipper compartment, very hand to put phone or something i need to grab fast.
but if you seen the bag and not feeling it i think you should find another bag that sings

i'm not impressed much by the gucci though

I have 3 Pochette Metis (PM) in different colors - Infra Rouge, Reverse and Classic Monogram. Yes, it tells how much I love PM as a daily use bag. As for the glazing problem, even if it happens, it can be fixed FOC by LV. I got my Classic one repaired and it turned out to be fine after that.

Since you carry a lot of stuff, I'd recommend this PM. Another good alternative would be LV Speedy B either in size 25 or 30.

As for the Gucci Marmont, it would entirely depend on the size that you choose i.e. mini, small, medium or large. Its leather is soft but durable. But be careful with the gap between the flap and the body of the bag. You may lose small things like lipsticks and (even keys!) if you don't store them properly in the Gucci bag.

My advice - get a bag that suits your life style and personality! Good luck on that! :)

LV canvas is super durable. Everlasting, I would say. That alone makes The pochette The best choice. Also, LV has The best customer service ever.
