Thoughts on the LV NFTs? - VIA "Treasure Trunk"

Here's some info on the NFT:

- soulbound tokens
- get a real trunk, replica of the NFT trunk
- plan to offer exclusive members-only products and experiences
- €39,000

"As part of the token’s utility roadmap, holders will receive a physical replica of their digital Treasure Trunk,"

"the collectibles are being sold as soulbound tokens, meaning they are non-transferable once purchased. NFT holders will not be able to sell their Treasure Trunks, however, they can sell individual items they mint in the future."

"The house shared that its VIA Treasure Trunk NFT is designed to be a portal into a variety of immersive experiences and limited drops set to take place throughout the year."

"a unique collection of phygital “Treasure Trunks,” with each piece costing €39,000 (roughly $42,000), with a few hundred trunks available. To obtain one of the trunks, customers from the US, Canada, France, UK, Germany, Japan, and Australia) need to hop on the waiting list on a website from 8 June."

Will include a real trunk (size is small, like backpack size) that matches the digital art trunk (NFT)
The digital art (NFT) is soulbound meaning its stays with the original buyer and is a non-sellable.
It is very expensive, and will include other "experiences".. maybe similar to vic? events? etc..

It'll be interesting to know what will be offered to the token holders since it is non-sellable.
LV is slow to enter NFTs, as the hot market has passed, but like Apple entering VR/AR, they are entering a market catered to different people. I appreciate they are trying to offer unique things to a variety of clients. It's also similar to what Tiffany has offered.

What's an NFT?:
An NFT is like a special digital collector's item. Just like one may might collect rare baseball cards or unique stamps, you can collect NFTs. Each NFT is one-of-a-kind and can represent things like a piece of art, a music clip, or a picture, but in a digital form.
When you buy an NFT, you get a digital token that says "this is the only one like this, and you own it". This is tracked and recorded using blockchain technology, each NFT is different and special in its own way.

Soulbound Tokens?:
"Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin describes soulbound tokens as non-transferable NFTs that can help represent a person's identity..." "...For example, anyone can claim to be a Harvard graduate, but holding an SBT from the university could be used to prove your educational credentials..."

It seems, then, that the vast figure quoted is just the first that one is expected to spend, to then enter a portal to a world full of similarly extortionately priced items which serve no real purpose. It's a shocking ploy which will prey on those who are gullible and/or suffer from FOMO about their favourite brand.
