it is interesting but, who really cares and people can lie about their income to feel better so, how accurate or objective is it really...kind of like your weight who ever tells it....now really darling.....

It's at people's own discretion how much or little information they want to post online, IMO. I'm sure everyone is aware of the risks.

DO you think that it is wise to post how much you make on line?

I think this is a really interesting topic and I am not offended at all. Surveys and statistics never tell the whole story, although unfortunately many people fail to consider that and are too quick to judge. Any information is interesting....whether there's a correlation between money + buying designer bags or not....we'll never know if we don't ask, right? This may not be academia, but the same rules apply. Hypothesis, research, then analyze/revise. Some people in the survey pool will choose to decline and others accept.

^^I guess because a lot of people are analytical by nature and interested in research adn statistics.
I am.
When I first joined I started a thread ust like this but for the whole population here, not just LVers and people 30+.
I was interested in WHO was buying all these $$ bags.

My thread offended some people, which cofused me, it was completely private and no one was forced to answer.

I am shocked to see such overwhelming response to this poll. Good thing that I was not able to stop the post in the beginning. (I had second thoughts, because I was afraid the post could be too politically incorrect.) As it turned out, I got what I expected, i.e., learned a lot from it. As someone in this thread pointed out, it is surprising to see so many people making under 30K are willing to buy LV bags. Moreover, I also conclude fronm the results of this poll that LV bags are really popular, and get to all income-level buyers under 30 years old. I guess I shall buy LV stocks.

Now, let me proceed to poll the second group of ladies. (Sorry, guys, you are excluded for the moment.)

I'm 22, and I'm employed full-time at a Casino Resort. Including tips, I make a lot, which is why I'm able to afford my expensive tastes. I make over 30K but not over 50k. I have no problem stating that, and this thread wasn't offensive towards me.

I have no problem stating what I make, but I guess that's because I'm a teacher and we all know it's not much. I worked full time for a little over half the year, and part time since august, and even at full time I wouldn't be reaching 30K. Oh well. There are times I wish I made more money, but I get over it. I just have to budget to get what I want.

Ok - I'll bite, on topic. Main job, legal field - over $60,000, less than $75,000. Work extra for extra nice things for the family (out of second consulting position). My luxury items come from cash, out of second job, after bills are paid. No luxury items on credit cards. I purchase both new and used LVs depending on what it is and how it's going to be used. I look at beautiful condition (taking into account depreciation when you leave the store - just like a car lot - the minute you leave the lot, your car value has decreased). If an LV, or other luxury item, is something I can obtain from a reputable seller in gorgeous condition, savings hundreds, I'll jump on it because it is more funds available for my family. I'm very proud of my buying habits (which were maligned) - as I have no credit card debt, own my own home (without help from parents or husband) and enjoy my family. I don't think there is any correlation, per se, between income and whether or not someone buys pre-loved bags, except for perhaps some business savvy, good sense, and the thrill of the hunt. Some of the smartest people I know, who are wealthy, are those that realize when it's worthwhile to save and when to spend. I'm thrilled when I get "the deal of a lifetime," and also, conversely, enjoy the brand new boutique experience. Both have their pros and cons and neither experience is good, nor bad, on its own merit. Each comes on its own individual basis - depends on the bag (LOL)! I'm all for a steal! Heck, a weekend at the beach and memories with my family - that's the way to go!
