Hi everyone!

First post here, and I would like to have your opinions.

I recently sold my Balenciaga mini city bag, and would like to buy a new everyday black bag.
I am debating between the LV Keepall 25 or the Coussin PM.

I feel like the Keepall is a more classic design, and is more casual. It is also less expensive, but less versatile since it can only be carried crossbody or top-handled.
On the other hand, the Coussin PM is more versatile with the strap and the chain. I feel it's more feminine with the lambskin, but it is alot more expensive. Also, are we over the Coussin silhouette? Is it a more trendy bag? Will I be sick of it in 5 years if ever LV discontinues it?

Or should I try to get an Hermes mini Lindy or mini 24/24 in store?
I read it could take up to 2 years of wait time.

Please let me know your thoughts and if you have any of these bags!
Thanks!

They probably will give you one immediately in any leather and colour if you spend $20k on scarves alone :D
I hate Hermès sooo much, sorry :D

On the serious note: they are very different bags. You summed up the differences perfectly. The Coussin is much more elegant and feminine, but I fear it won't be a classic in 10-15 years, feeling more trendy. High-end trendy but trendy.
The Keepall also can be a handheld ;) and if you want it to be more feminine, we are back at the Speedy. But I guess there is a reason why you thought the Keepall instead.
Personally, I would go for the Keepall, feeling like there is less room for disappointment in the long run.

Bull cracked me up with the Hermes joke
I agree, I think the keepall is more timeless; I think the Coussin's, while gorgeous, will look more dated in several years. I will admit I am biased as I'm always going to pick LV over Hermes!

Thanks for your response! Yes, I already have the Speedy 25 in damier ebene, but with no straps.
The Keepall seemed a little bit more edgy and different than the speedy.

I totally understand. It would be a little repetitive to get another Speedy. This little Keepall is super fun, and since the shape is already a century-old true classic, even when tiny bags will be out again, it will stay cool.

I have both the Coussin and Keepall 25. I would agree that the Coussin probably doesn't have the staying power of the Keepall 25. The Coussin is definitely more on the trendy side. I purchased because I loved the lambskin when it was first released. I was worried that it would be delicate. I did manage to get a pretty significant scratch on it and I do try to watch my bags carefully. The Keepall in my opinion would be more durable and classic for an every day bag.

I also have and love (sorry Bull ;)) Hermes bags. The leather is like no other. Having said that, I personally don't care for the design of the Lindy. Same for the 24/24. I will agree with Bull that Hermes has become ridiculous to deal with over the years. To me, no bag is worth waiting 2 years!

I’ve talked about my love for the coussin before. It’s my favorite bag ever. Super comfortable to wear x-body because of the wide strap. I have it in navy and goes with everything. You can use the chain if you want a dressier version. I haven’t had so much as a scratch on the leather. I rarely see anyone with it and get compliments all the time. I don’t worry about something being trendy really because I don’t especially care and also by that time or later my personal tastes may change and I’ll have a need for something different anyway. I have bags I bought years ago and while still beautiful they are way too big for my lifestyle now for example. But they are classic. Get what you will enjoy carrying now. Bags are not an investment imo.

I am a bonafide LV lover and adore everything about the entire Keepall collection. That said, the Coussin is simply AMAZE. Versatile, elegant, casual, understated, overstated. It has it all and can fit into any situation. My vote is Coussin 👍🏾.

What’s your lifestyle, and do you usually dress up, or down? How much do you usually bring with you when you’re out?

Between the two LV choices, I would go with Keepall 25. The Coussin PM looks really bulky once you start filling it up. My hips are 36”/91.5 cm, and I look like I have a random growth on my side when the Coussin PM has things inside it. There’s a reason why you don’t see any models facing the camera straight on with the Coussin PM hanging on their side. It is always brought to the front. If you have an LV store near you, absolutely go in, put your things inside the bags, and try them both. Lambskin is softer and thinner than calfskin too, so it’s prone to “stretching” a little more. If you regularly stuff your bags, Coussin might look tired and deflated after a few years. Needless to say, lambskin is more delicate than bovine leather. Coussin is a little easier to dress up though, but I would never consider it “sleek” enough for fine-dining and above. I don’t care for either of the fabric straps too, but you can find a black leather strap easily online.

If you are open to pre-loved, there are black leather speedy 20s and 25s that come with leather crossbody straps. LV leather products tends to lose a lot of value on resale, so pre-loved is a good way to get LV leather without the high price tag.

If you decide not to go the LV route, your Hermes options are a little confusing. Both LV bags are targeted for “younger” clients. Both Hermes bags are targeted for “older” clients. While I’m aware that any age can wear whatever they want, there are design elements that will attract/detract age groups. If you live near an Hermes store, there is absolutely no harm in going in and asking if they have any bags you could look at. They might not be able to sell it to you, but at least you’ll know how you feel about the product. Certain bag styles are also “easier” to get too.

I personally love Hermes for everything but their bags, so instead I’m usually turning down offers to purchase a bag. I don’t see the point of being on a waitlist for most things. If I’ve lived 29 years without it, it’s more than likely not going to add any value to my life once I have it. If it’s a wishlist item that I can work towards and get once I’m ready, that’s different. I think wishlists are made with much more intention, vs. “waiting for your turn.”
