I think she's so stunning! Yay for an African girl, too!

About that Vanity Fair shoot, part of me wonders if not only lighting is the factor but that they have her surrounded by big white balloons with a white backdrop. All of that would cause the photographer's flash to bounce off of it. Meaning there's probably a bit of other things happening here--the environment produced a lighter picture and then in post-production, they did the usual touching up, lightening an already light photo.

That was my thought as well.... also that bleached out Terry Richardson style is trendy now - so many pictures of celebs look a bit overexposed.

Part of me does get a bit upset - as a POC - that when POC are shot in that style, there is tons of criticism over skin-lightening, while nobody says anything when white people are shot in that same style. It just seems like another way in which POC are excluded or something....... But I can definitely understand the context behind the criticism.

Gorgeous. Her stylist needs an award too, she's killing it this award season.
