I’m looking at getting a love ring for Mother’s Day. I was looking on fashionphile and they have one for $975 in excellent condition comes with everything. Not sure if I should get that or buy brand new from Cartier site. Is it bad luck to purchase a pre loved ring? What would you guys do spend the extra money and get it new?

I have purchased off fashionphile and have been happy plus you save some money. I bought a pair of Cartier Love Stud earrings off there and they were in excellent condition as described and came with box and paperwork. I saved about $400 from retail. They have a good return policy too if you are not happy with your purchase. I guess you need to consider if it bothers you to have preloved pieces. For me, if the items are in great condition why not recycle someone else’s luxury piece. Good luck with your decision!

Oh I don’t mind preloved at all but not sure with a ring if I should do brand new I hear it’s bad luck to wear someone else ring especially if it came from a bad marriage or divorce. Idk how true this is lol..

I buy most of my bags preloved and trust Fashionphile. I would also have little hesitation about buying a necklace or even earrings from there. But with something like the Love ring, which shows scratches really quickly, I’d probably buy new. Particularly if it’s engraved, I wouldn’t want it.

That’s my thoughts. I would only be saving like $300 so I feel like I’m better off getting it brand new

I don’t buy pre-loved because of my anxiety and I do love the boutique experience. Jewelry especially I much prefer to be only worn on my person and owned by me. It all depends on how much you’ll think about it afterwards.

Personally I'd get it brand new since the love collection is prone to scratches. I baby my Cartier rings and they still get some hairline scratches here and there, I don't want to polish them yet because it's essentially shaving off a thin layer of gold...It really depends on how OCD you are and the condition of the ring. I suspect anyone who sell their pieces would have it polished before turning it in to Fashionphile, and who knows how many times they've polished it prior selling it since Cartier would do it for free. I'll pay the full price for the peace of mind and get to enjoy the ring at its glorious state :-s

Thank you everyone I definitely was leaning toward new but wanted others opinions. What size would I order I’m a 6 but I’ll be stacking and sometimes i like my ring a little bit bigger due to swelling etc…I was thinking 53 but will that not give to much room maybe 54. I’m not sure how the love rings run I’m looking at the thin band. Thoughts? If anyone doesn’t mind showing mod shots that would be great appreciated

If it comes with the CoA and the box (well, box doesn't really matter), I think it's worth it. Buying a brand new Love ring is like $1300 now I believe (maybe more since the price increase). I bought a preloved Love bangle back in 2008 on eBay and it came with everything as well, and it was truly authentic. I had it for 7 years and loved it. Sounds like a good deal. I truly don't believe it's bad luck, I love estate jewelry so look at it that way. It has a history.

I was in the same predicament when I was ready to purchase my love ring. I ended up buying new and going to the boutique. I am glad I did, especially since it was a purchase to celebrate my wedding anniversary. My husband did not want to entertain the idea of a used ring. It was also fun to have the Cartier experience. That was my first time in a boutique.
