Hallo,
This is long - sorry!
I've gradually developed bunions, oddly when I was younger I didn't wear pointy toed high heels, I mainly lived in trainers and Doc Martens - the fab shoe thing is something that I've only recently started doing.
I've been breaking in my kid Yoyos and found that my bunions are a bit sore. I was also very naughty and ended up buying a pair of purple patent Simple 70mm pumps at the weekend even though I had banned myself until the autumn!
Both styles seemed fine when I tried them on. I went into the shop in the late afternoon after walking around all day both times, i.e. my feet should have had time to swell up to the max that they ever would normally. However now I have them at home they both feel a bit tight across the toe box. I am a bit (no, very) depressed about this as I love the shoes and bought them to wear, not just to admire. If I'm stuck in a boring meeting just looking at them on my feet makes me feel happier. However I don't want to do any long term damage to my feet so I am going to limit the time I spend in them.

My question is whether it is work trying to get the toe box stretched around the bunions? Has anyone done this and did it work? Also I remember a while back a thread about putting rubbing alcohol inside patent shoes and wearing them with socks to stretch them, did this work?

If you've stuck with it up to this point, thanks very much. I am surprisingly upset at the thought of not being able to wear my lovely CLs. Partly it is the waste of hard earned money and partly the thought that, after a brief glimpse of CL paradise, I will be cast into the outer darkness that is ugly, practical, ortho shoes.

I'm sorry for my ignorance...what is a bunion? And, also what i s a hammer toe (or is it camel toe)? I've heard people saying that before (not to me), but never really knew what it was...

Don't worry. I think you can make them work.

I would try to stretch them at home if it's only a little tight, but if that's not enough, why suffer?
Take them to a cobbler show them exactly where you want more room and they will fix it for you.

Once you've experienced CLs, there is no going back.

:roflmfao: Camel toe is when your pants are pulled up so high, you can see a split your hoo-ha.

a bunion is when theres an overgrowth of bone mass at the toe's joint. it causes the toes to point inwards, it makes like an L shape.

hammer toe is developed by wearing high heels, where the toes become clawlike and eventually harden.

and a camel toe is... when someone wears pants too tight and you can see their vajayjay...

I think the best thing to do is stretch out the shoes or size half size up so you can wear your shoes more comfy.

Ok thanks for the explanation between the differences between each...now I know not to call someone's toes a "camel toe"...LOL

All sound equally painful though?

Hallo,
The camel toe thing made me ROFL which cheered me up no end so thanks! The bunions kind of grew gradually, the only time I've experienced really bad pain was when I dug out my ski boots which I hadn't worn for a couple of years and got fitted for when the bunions were smaller. I was in agony and had to leave the ski lesson and hire boots for the rest of the holiday.
They are a bit sore at the moment because I'm breaking in new shoes. Most of my other shoes are well broken in and I usually go up a half size with an insole. This is because most high street shops don't do anything smaller than a 36 or 37 and I am normally a 35.5. This usually means that there is room for the extra width of my foot caused by the bunion. The CLs seem to come up quite narrow. I don't want my toes being compressed too much as I'm told this leads to them growing over each other.
I guess bunions = some pain
hammer toe = some pain
camel toe = cringing with embarrassment when you realise...

LOL, you guys reminded me of the song "Camel Toe" by Fannypack:
Walking down the street
Something caught my eye
A growing epidemic
That really ain’t fly
This middle aged lady
I gotta be blunt
Her spandex biker shorts
Were creeping up the front
I could see her uterus
Her pants were too tight
She musn’t own panties
There were none in sight
She walked right by
The poor woman didn’t know
She had a frontal wedgie
A Cameltoe

Umm Hmm
That’s right
Uh Huh
Oh No
Fix yourself girl
You got a Cameltoe

Girl that’s gotta hurt
Take some time and adjust
Can’t you see people staring
And making a fuss
Could not believe my eyes
Had to take a second glance
Is your crotch hungry girl?
Cause it’s eating your pants
Do you enjoy the commotion
And attention it brings?
The only lips I wanna see
Are the ones that sing
In public putting on
An X rated show
Grossing people out
With your Cameltoe

Repeat Chorus

First day of spring and by the looks of things
These girls done forgot how to dress
A little too quick to wearin pum pum shorts
And it’s causing me much distress
Whoomp there it is ya’ll right in the front
Everybody come and get a good look
I can see everything through the panty cling
Every crannie and every nook
You better take a quick minute before you step outside
Check the area thats pubic
Or you’ll get your panties all up in a bunch
All twisted up like rubic
Take these words of advice cause its not very nice
I wanna put you all in the know
Girls dont sleep dont let your pants creep
Watch out for the Cameltoe.

laurenthemean,
Thanks for posting that song - it was hilarious!

more_CHOOS,
I'm so glad you asked because the responses made me laugh for the first time today!

Oh, forgot to say before that the Simple pumps must come up v small as I ended up getting the 36.5 in the end. I only tried them on because that was the only size they had in the wine/purple colour. I stood in the store shaking my feet alternately to see if they would fall off (the shoes I mean, not the feet). I thought that was embarrassing but that was before the discussion about camel toe. Imagine discovering that while looking in the mirror during a shopping expedition.
