Louis Vuitton Vernis bag--can you clean transfer off a large area?

I am looking at a fairly new LV Vernis bag, but the person selling it is doing so because she left it in her closet outside of the dustbag, and it has a large area of transfer from something dark on it. The bag itself is beige and pretty, but the transfer area on the back of the bag is large and takes up the majority of the outside of the bag. Can this be cleaned, or is it a waste?
Thanks!

For that price, personally I'd purchase it! Just for the slight chance that it could be cleaned and look brand new

Wow... the devil on my left shoulder said the exact same thing! She thinks I would be silly to pass it up. My resistance level is not good...not good at all.
Thanks for the comment!

hmm.. for that price, how can you be sure if it's a real LV?
have you asked her if she tried cleaning it with other cleaners? if so, which brands? that should give a good indication if the area can be cleaned...

good luck!
