Here is my continuation of vintage bag reviews. Today, I would like to compare Speedy 25 vs 30!

Speedy! I dare say it is one of the most iconic bags in the world!
This bag was first made in 1930 as a portable version of Louis Vuitton’s popular travel bag, the Keepall. Initially, Speedy was only available in three sizes: 30, 35 and 40. However, it was the iconic actress Audrey Hepburn who requested an even smaller version titled the Speedy 25.
Hence, starting the century-old question of: ‘Speedy 25 or 30?’.
Basic:
So, here are basics.
In terms of size, classic Speedy 25 is 9.8 inches wide, 7.4 inches tall, and 5.9 inches deep. Speedy 30 is 11.8 inches wide, 8.2 inches tall, and 6.6 inches deep. So, Speedy 30 is 2 inches wider, 1.6 inches taller, and 0.7 inches deeper than Speedy 25. As you see, two bags have significant differences in size!
In terms of price, Speedy 25 retails for a $1,000 while Speedy 30 retails $1,020. And their price differences are only around $20, which is very small. As a result, we see far too many people opting for the 30, since they think for $20 differences larger size 30 is better bag for the buck.
However, in my opinion, price should be the least important factor when considering between Speedy 25 and 30!
Comparison Factors:
Now that we went over basics of both bags, let’s take a look at 5 factors to consider before choosing between Speedy 25 and 30. 5 factors are your bag style, bag’s shape, bag’s size, your height, and travel usage of the bag.
In terms of styling preference, if you love evening bags, crossbody bags, and in general small ‘cute’ bag, Speedy 25 is perfect for you. Speedy 25 can easily transition from work to evening bag while maintaining its casual classic look.
If you are worried that this ‘cute’ bag might not fit too much. Don’t Worry. Speedy 25 is a deceptively large bag that can fit a lot.
If you are more into top handle, shoulder bags, and in general slightly larger classic type of bags, Speedy 30 would be great for you. Speedy 30 is an amazing bag for daily use. And Speedy 30 looks just right when you hold it by top handle or in the crook of your arm. If your looking for the original timeless Louis Vuitton look, it can’t get better than the classic Speedy 30.
In terms of shape, if you prefer structured look Speedy 25 will work well for you.
With its compact size, Speedy 25 tend to hold its form well even without a base shaper or an organizer.
On the other hand, due to its larger size, Speedy 30 can sag. You can overcome this issue by getting a base shaper; however, if you like the classic slouching look, Speedy 30 would be perfect for you!
Now, in terms of size, if you usually carry light and carry only daily essentials, such as your phone, wallet, keys, cosmetic pouch, and a water bottle, we would recommend Speedy 25.
Speedy 25 is deceptively large, so it will have no problem holding your daily essentials. Also, Speedy 25 has more structure than Speedy 30, so items stay more organized.
However, Speedy 25 does have one major issue when it comes to size. It does have a small mouth opening as you see here. So, sometimes it is hard to get in and out of the bag.
So, if you are looking for a carefree bag that you can just toss your stuff in, Speedy 30 might be a better option for you.
In terms of your physique, it has been said that that Speedy 25 looks great for people under 5’ 7’’ & Speedy 30 looks great on people over 5’ 7’’. However, for us, height is one of the least important factors. We think both Speedys work well for any height.
In terms of travel usage, if you own a strap & plan to use your bag as a crossbody, Speedy 25 will be amazing.
With its compact size, Speedy 25 works very well as a crossbody. Also, its small mouth opening works as an anti-theft measure to protect your belongings on the road.
Now, if you are looking to use Speedy as an occasional ‘just-in-case’ luggage, 30 will go a long way.
With its amazing capacity, Speedy 30 can fit in extra travel items.
