Hi guys!

I've been debating on whether to get the Louis Vuitton Keepall 45 or the Goyard Boston 45 duffle bags! I plan to use it as a personal item along with my carry on luggage. Has anyone had experience with either as a personal item? I actually do already own the Goyard Boston 50, but have been debating if I should get something different for a personal item sized bag.

If you look at the dimensions of the Boston 45 on the goyard website, it says that is 49cm in length (so seems like its closer to a 50 rather than a 45 lol) so I wonder if it would be considered too big to be a personal item? Wonder if anyone has used it for that purpose? I would fly mostly domestically here in the U.S. though so I know for the most part they are more lenient with luggage sizes.

I do like the Goyard Boston 50 I have but I don't like how it has absolutely zero interior pockets, at least the keepall has one interior zip pocket, and you dont have to purchase the strap seperately. Pro of the goyard though is that it at least comes with metal feet at the bottom.

With these crazy price increases though, the Boston 45 costs more than the price I paid for my boston 50 and its still an additional 1.5k over the keepall... so wondering if its worth it or just better to get the keepall? I know many use it for travel and haven't had issues.

Let me know what you guys think! I would consider the classic monogram eclipse keepall or the gray goyard duffle!

Personally, I find the Keepall more proportionate in terms of the handles it's to my eyes more appealing. Therefore, gets my vote. I might be biased since I own a Keepall and find it very good-looking, practical and great for its intended purpose of traveling.

Everything up to 55cm or 21inch is cabin approved for most airlines.

THIS!

- The proportions make it look much wider, so it wouldn't surprise me if security people would be more likely to notice and check its size.
- Feet on any soft bags make 0 sense, expecially on large one. They just add more weight. Most of the bag will touch the ground anyway.
- The Keepall design is a cultural icon, the Goyard one is just another duffle.
- I'm not familiar with Goyard's repair services, but Vuitton does it very well.

Yes! Also, excellent points! I swear by the LV repair service. I've had more bags fixed (vachetta replacements) than I care to remember and I have never been disappointed. <3

Thanks for the input guys! And you are totally right about repair services, I don’t have a goyard store near me so if I ever had any problems with it, I would for sure have some trouble there and LV stores are everywhere on the other hand! Plus I guess I already have the Boston in the 50 size so might as well try something new right? Haha

Do you think there’s any pros/cons to getting a leather version versus the classic canvas? I know canvas would be more water resistant and lighter, and overall more durable? And leather might just have that premium feel and all but would be heavier? Was leaning towards canvas just because it’s lighter and I know a lot of people say that it gets really heavy once you really pack it?

Once one of my favourite and most charming SAs told me that he'd never buy a leather Keepall. They look very nice as pieces of art, but they are indeed heavier, also canvas keepalls can be just folded and flattened as needed. The leather ones are much much more delicate.

Assuming your other carry on is a roller and that you don’t mind the weight of these bags?

And/or you can rest them on top of the roller? (I’m sensitive to weight so use a rimowa roller and a rimowa
Weekender that has a body carry strap that stack over the telescope roller handles ) My rimowa is 45 cm and dont
have an issue to carry both on in business or first.

I would go with the non leather LV. I like the monogram eclipse :)

Yes the carry on I use is also a rimowa haha, and I would just rest it on top of the rimowa but I’m sure there’s times where I’ll just carry it on its own so yeah I think canvas might be better too! Thanks for the input!!

Overall sounds like the monogram eclipse keepall is the way to go haha!

You guys were totally right!

I went into the store today and picked up the monogram eclipse keepall 45 and I love it! It actually does feel a lot more high quality than the goyard Boston 50 that I have, and the canvas is thicker! And the 45 size seems perfect as a personal item and looks great with the rimowa haha! And I see now the proportions you were talking about, the Keepall does look better for sure!

Appreciate all your inputs!
