I just got back from a short holiday overseas, and made it a point to stop over in Hong Kong to visit the Louis Vuitton: A Passion for Creation exhibition at the Hong Kong Museum of Art.

It was my first time in Hong Kong and as there was a typhoon approaching that day, I hopped off the plane and headed straight to the HKMoA to see the exhibition.

The museum had been covered in blow ups of Richard Prince's "After Dark" series, featuring the covers of popular novels that he had gathered.

I happened to make it to the exhibition at the right time, because as I was leaving they were taking down the coverings as a precaution to the typhoon that was going to hit that night. Over the next few days as I walked past the Hong Kong Museum of Art, the facade was still bare so I was glad I was able to see it while it was dressed up.

I wasn't able to pick up the book I originally wanted as they were all sold out, so I settled for a book set with 3 books covering the exhibition.

The book set consists of: LOUIS VUITTON AND ART; FONDATIONS LOUIS VUITTON POUR LA CREATION: THE COLLECTION, A CHOICE; and FONDATIONS LOUIS VUITTON POUR LA CREATION: THE ARCHITECTURAL PROJECT, and is housed in an individually numbered perspex case.

Each book has the title embossed on the front cover in English, and is embossed in Chinese on the back cover. They also feature a colour for each book (Yellow, Orange, Green), which is the colour used for the edging of the pages as well as the font colour for the Chinese dialogue within the books.

The books feature all of the displays within the exhibition, as well as writings behind the displays and the artist. A few snaps from inside the books:

I also picked up a copy of the exhibition guide book for myself, and another for my SA.

When I visited a few of the Louis Vuitton stores around Hong Kong, I was a bit disappointed to see that they had the book I originally wanted to buy. I didn't actually think that they would be selling the books in their stores and that it was just for the museum. Had I known they were available in stores, I would have purchased the book at an actual Louis Vuitton store rather than the book shop at the museum. Anyway, I love the book set I bought and am reminded of my time in Hong Kong when I look through it.

And to finish, a few pics of the Canton Road store which was also promoting the exhibition.
