I'm new here. I joined because I'm looking into getting the MK Large Hamilton Tote in black. I just turned 21 (yesterday, actually) so I don't have a lot of money to throw away. That being said, I want the best deal I can get. I've heard that the Saffiano leather holds up better than regular leather. Is that true? I figure since they are the same price, and I am trying to get the best deal, getting Saffiano leather would be the smartest decision in the long run. Do any of you have any advice as to get Saffiano leather or regular leather? What are your experiences? I don't want to spend nearly $400 on something that won't hold up well. I want to make a smart decision as this will be my first designer purchase. Thanks for your help. :)

*I really enjoy the look of the bag both slouchy, and more structured. At this point, I'm just trying to get the best deal and the most for my money!

I just got the large black hamilton in Saffiano because I heard it holds up better in all Weather.
The Saffiano leather also stays more structured.
Hopefully more people can give you advice to make your decision easier :)

I just purchased this bag in the black with gold hardware in the soft leather and I love it. I had it in saffiano at one point and I think it's too stiff for the style of the purse. Just my opinion, I love the slouch especially when using with the long strap. HTH

Both are beautiful but saffiano is definitely more durable and will last longer. If you look online you will seethe regular leather softens to the point of lying flat and the handles pull making them very odd looking. The saffiano will keep structure but will soften a teeny bit.

I think that if you're mostly concerned about the bag remaining structured over time then saffiano leather would be the better choice. Saffiano seems to be the more popular choice from what I've observed.
I struggled with the same decision for my second E/W Hamilton. I now have 2 in pebbled leather. I think that I'll like the appearance of slouchy pebbled leather more than slouchy saffiano leather. With the way saffiano feels, I don't think I'd like how it looked if it slouched or folded in any way. It's just too stiff, if that makes sense.

I have the Saffiano and the soft leather. The Saffiano is more maintenance in my opinion. If it's not stuffed it'll slouch and you'll have to work it back into the normal shape. I have to stuff it, face it down, and cover it whenever I'm not using it. I like the structured look, but it bangs up against my body when I'm walking because it's stiff. Plus I feel like I have to wear more upscale clothes when I'm wearing it and I usually wear casual. The black soft leather is for everyday. I stuff my soft leather when I'm using it to make it look full. I'd go with the soft.

I had bought a black leather Hamilton bag not the saffiano what I can say is it holds but the corners are a bit worn out and I did not wear it like everyday! It's my favourite bag and I love it! I vote fully for michael kors bags!!

I read this advice and I thought it was really good. I can't remember who suggested it, or I would give props. Either way, it was great advice: Go check out e Bay and check out their used Hamilton's in both the soft leather and saffiano. You'll be able to get a better idea of what the bag will look like after its been used.

Personally, I would get the saffiano, but I am biased because that's going to be my next purchase! Well, that or a red saffiano Hamilton. I can't decide! :smile1:

I don't like the soft leather I bought 2 of them regift one and returned one I just can't stand it when it puddles down and doesn't hold it structure. That's just my opinion only though.

I have two Hamiltons in black regular leather, a medium(?) and a large one. I'm pleased with them, even though they are starting to sag(large one especially). I appreciate this however. I've heard from friends though, and other people that the saffiano holds really well(scratches etcetera) so if you're looking to keep the structured look, I'd go with saffiano.
If you're looking for a more everyday/casual bag I'd go with regular leather.

Now I'm starting to lean more towards the soft leather. Although it isn't as sturdy/scratch-proof, I feel that my style is a little more laid back so the slouch would fit me better... I'm still on the fence though!
