Hello all, I hope it’s ok to ask this here! I just received a beautiful Hermes Herbag 31 in coated canvas. It was a bit impulsive as it’s so lovely, but I have also had the Celine Sac 16 and Triomphe on my radar for a while. I usually only ever buy leather bags as for longevity I find they’re a great choice, but the coated canvas of the Herbag as opposed to the military canvas seemed more durable. I’m not on the Hermes train really, I won’t be buying a Kelly/Birkin etc. I also wouldn’t be offered one! What would you guys recommend? Return the Herbag and get one of three others or keep? I won’t be buying another bag for a long while, and I’m trying to stick to the one in one out rule! Thank you in advance for your help!

your back story is not clear
what is the source of 'receive'? this is relevant because the options vary
Hermes boutique; online consignment; drop in consignment;

there is no point in buying any bag just because it is Hermes unless it will fulfil a proper function as part of your wardrobe

because the three bags you show are completely different, there is a suggestion that you are buying just for the sake of buying and without any real purpose or plan

save your money and buy something else you would like

I think in all of H shopping, the Herbag is the most often regretted purchase (from my admittedly unscientific analysis of reading H social media). It’s finicky and hard to open. I’d argue most times it is purchased as an easy entry-bag to a kelly with a more accessible price point but in actuality it isn’t worth anywhere near its cost. If you can return it for your money back, I’d do that in a heart beat. If you got it in store and will therefore only get store credit back, I’d probably keep it and try to make it work.

Those bags all look so different and would serve different functions for me, so it's hard to give advice about the herbag vs one of the alternatives you list. Maybe evaluate the herbag in isolation rather than comparing it to them? Is it functional for you? How would you use it?
Here is a review where someone regretted hers:

In case those help you!

Thank you all for your replies! I was not being obscure in my saying I received the bag, as it doesn’t matter to me. However it was from a consignment store and I can return. For me, the herbag is quite similar in function to the sac 16. When I saw the herbag I just thought it looked beautiful and quite classy. I have a few bags that fulfil the same purpose, however I love them for different days or rotation. I think the biggest drawback of the Herbag will be the finicky opening. I appreciate all the views shared. I rarely if ever buy a bag solely for being a certain brand.

I know Herbag prices have been increasing quite quickly so I would tend to vote for it as all 3 bags seems durable. The Celine Triomphe is known to scratch easily also but its such an elegant choice. Doesn't fit much so it would depend of your everyday needs. I also saw that you can find good quality Celine triomphe on the second hand market (e.g. Vestiaire collective even has some brand new Celine bags at a good discount), whilst the Herbag is more expensive to buy second hand. Overall I would vote Herbag simply because its a lower price point, still a durable option, and seems to keep its value more than the other Celine bags.

It seems to me you are already having regrets of your Herbag purchase. I therefore would advice you to return it. It is easy to get carried away when one sees something beautiful. Even though I sometimes buy things I know I will only use rarely, I still think they are so beautiful that I want them in my collection and hence no regrets.

I truly love my herbag, and if they are going up in value so much the better! I interchangeable canvas colors, which turns it into two bags, which is magnificent IMHO! I would stay below the 35 size though it seemed way too large other than for Travel
