Looking for an Hermes briefcase - any thoughts?

Hi Everyone!

I have a few Hermes bags myself and I want to get my husband into the wonder world of Hermes. I am thinking about buying him a briefcase but have zero experience with them -- I only have bags (Birkin, Kelly, Plume, Bolide, and Trim) and the briefcase are quite different -- and more expensive at retail, no?

I bought my DH a 41cm Sac a Depeche in black togo with PHW. He doesn't use it!!! He said it's too heavy. So you might want to consider the weight issue in your decision.

i looked at the links and think the Hermes Black Chamonix Leather Kelly Depeches Briefcase would look super awsome and you should buy it for your dh

The Kelly Briefcase is stunning, but yes, I think it's a bit to feminine. My vote goes to the third one !

Sac a Depeche is the all times BEST SELLER briefcase from Hermes.

Check with your SA the diffrent sizes, and styles. There are with one compartment, two and three... if I do not mistake.... Plus, there are many versions as for leathers and color of hardware.

You willl find the right one for your DH !

the SDP can be heavy when filled with documents etc and can only be handheld. I think most would men prefer to have the option of a sling?

The Sac a Depeche also comes in the traditional east/west briefcase format, which might be a more attractive option for your DH. The Kelly Depeche is stunning, but IMO most men wouldn't want to deal with the front straps.

One I really like is the Plume Porte Document- it's slim, light, and gorgeous!

I vote for the Sac a Depeche, hands down. I don't think the N/S orientation is trendy anymore - it's become a classic.

The sac a depeche is the classic Hermes briefcase and very attractive, but speaking from the standpoint of having had one, its not that practical. I didnt find it heavy, but the handles not that comfortable to carry; its hard to get in and out of, particularly if you are trying to get to a subway card, a wallet, a cell phone; and it doesnt hold that much. I would say one of the new mens messenger bags is a better briefcase option.

Hmmmm - Thank you guys so much, a lot to think about!

I am going to run up to H today and see if they have the E/W Sac a Depeches and the Porte Plume for me to look at...

I tend not to mind the heavier weight of Hermes product, it reminds me of gold, the heavier the better! Not that I WANT my bag to be heavy, I just don't mind because it feels more substantial and better quality -- I have two HAC 50cm Travels, a toile and a Fjord, I've never used the Fjord because it's so heavy!!! But I love them both!!
