I'm currently building my collection of bags, and the one thing I feel like I need right now is an everyday black crossbody bag.

Ideally, this would be something I could both dress up and dress down: the perfect all occasion, default bag. Size-wise, I'd like to keep it in the mini to small end - just enough to carry the essentials and be light/comfortable/fashionable.

This bag is for a guy (me), and would prefer something on the unisex side. Nothing too flashy in terms of monogram prints or hardware; just something clean, classy, and attractive that can go with a wide variety of outfits (some days I'll be in loafers and a chore coat, other days sneakers and streetwear).

If it helps narrow down some potential choices, my latest purchase is a Loewe puzzle mini in tan (love it so much!). The Celine Triomphe, YSL Solferino, and Gucci Petite mini are kinda close to what I'd be interested in - but either have some combination of showy logos or smooth leather that'll scratch too easily with daily wear.

Based on this info, what would you all recommend as possible bags to check out?

Check out the Sofia, by The Row. I consider it fairly unisex, clean lines, great quality. It is smooth leather though.

Oooh, I really like the look of the E/W Sofia in black!

How is The Row as a brand? I'm not too familiar with them
It’s the brand built by Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen and is known for it’s quiet luxe quality. I’ve owned several bags and there are quite a few others who have posted their Row bags on the forum. The clothing is lovely as well. If you do a bit of googling you’re bound to come up with articles praising both the Olsen twins’ business acumen and their philosophy behind The Row.

Celine Triomphe bag in Medium. If you get it in black there's a protective coating so it doesn't scratch that easily at all. My polene bags in grained leather are super durable as well. I throw them around, take them through rain and snow - nothing.

How about the Gucci horsebit 1955 mini bag? Seems to check all the boxes... unisex, sans logo, durable looking (not smooth) leather, and I think the black on black a little edgy and don't have to worry about hardware color matching jewelry or other items.

Nice, I didn't know about the protective coating. I'm sad that Celine is discontinuing the classic box bag though, because that would be near ideal for me! Polene makes some really pretty bags, but I'm not sure I could pull it off.
