Out of the 3 I think the MJ is the dressiest looking of the bunch. But it's also a crossbody bag so depending on what your wearing when you need the dressier bag it may not go well with say a dress. It's also really small size wise so if this is the only bag you'll be bringing on your trip you will most likely have to pair down your day to day stuff. Maybe this one could work it's the same brand and line just a diffrent style it also has an adjustable strap so you can make it longer/shorter for your needs http://www.shopbop.com/preppy-nylon...browse-brand-shopbysize-viewall&colorId=37095

I think the kipling bag could work in black or the dark blue as long as you took off the gorilla charm. It's less casual than most of their bags. I think this one might be the one style that they make that has a nice smooth shoulder strap(nylon?) most of their shoulder straps are a rough fabric. I was looking to get my SIL a kipling bag for Christmas but the style I liked had the rough strap so I ended up passing on it.

I was just in london and paris for a while and in my opinion the long champ would be your best bet- you need the bag to hold a lot, be comfortable and above all keep your things SAFE! Happy travels!

Go to Angelinas in paris and get the hot chocolate- it is to die for!!!! SOO worth going there for lunch one day (their risotto is fabulous too!)

get the marc jacobs - it has the potential to be casual and dressy  and then get another longchamp on your trip ^__^ hahahaha! since longchamp is from france :P don't forget to get ur VAT refund before you get on the plane back home (assuming you are taking a flight there~)

i think mj bags are very sturdy and its an american brand (assuming you are american) and it would probably be cheaper in usa. i think mj bags have better value. if not the mj one use the longchamp one since it's also popular in france. try to blend in more with the european crowd since france (i was told) to be known for pickpocketers. i wouldn't recommend the kipling the one at all... but that's probably because i'm biased towards kipling (im not a fan of them aside from the monkey keychain)... i don't own one so i can't speak for the durability, but the mj and lc ones are durable

u should also go laudree! they have the best desserts (macaroons!)

I have that Longchamp crossbody bag and I love it; great travel purse. I recently carried it on a 2 week trip in China. I found it unassuming but still pretty stylish. I usually carried it when wearing casual clothing but sometimes I did carry it when going out to dinner. ( I also had with me a Marc Jacobs baby stam for very dressy occasions but I was told to not wear it too often especially when sight seeing.) The Longchamp lettering on the strap really didn't bother me at all; I forgot it was even there. I love the Longchamp Planetes material; so much sturdier than the Le Pliage. I also had with me a Planetes large tote for my larger items like camera and travel books and jacket.

I'm on a holiday vacation right now and I forgot to bring the Longchamp crossbody bag; really missing it.

Why not just buy a handbag while in Paris? Paris is handbag heaven. I've been vacationing there, almost annually, since the 70s. I buy my handbags there. I'd take a temporary bag and then upon arrival go handbag shopping.

If I were you, I'd head straight to Galeries Layfayette and Printemps department stores which are next door to each other and in back of the old opera house (Garnier).

When you enter the store, go to the information desk and get a Tourist discount card (passport for I.D. needed). You will probably find a bag there that you really like and you might be able to qualify for both the tourist discount and detaxe.

Besides Galeries Layfaette and Printemps, there are some great handbag boutiques in my neighborhood, the 6th (St.Germain). On rue Cherche Midi (low numbers), there's Karine Dupont, Groom, and some other ones all in the same block. Then east of there, there's rue du Four where there are handbag shops. And there's the wonderful Sequoia handbag boutique on rue St.Suplice in the 6th, near the church of St. Suplice and a short walk from rue du Four. At least you will be able to find something different. You should be able to easily find a great handbag.

As for Kipling, I have lots of Kipling as I love it. I've been buying it since the 80s. But, I don't find it that dressy except for possibly some of the small, leather bags. I have one leather one that I can use with a dressy look.

As for Longchamp, I'd wait and look in Paris as there's more variety there.

And as for Marc Jacobs, if I were going to pay Marc Jacobs prices, I would definitely wait until I got to Paris and look for a Parisian handbag in the same price range; like a nice Vanessa Bruno handbag and there are a lot other ones I would consider. Vanessa Bruno's boutique is on rue St. Suplice, in the 6th, and just down the street from Sequoia.

And there's the wonderful Jamin Puech. www.jamin-puech.com. It's on the rue Madam, in the 6th, and a short walk from Sequoia.
