Loewe In Singapore, Sydney, Jakarta: Where is Cheapest?

I’m from Indonesia. I do not have a Loewe, but afaik everything in Indonesia is more expensive compared to other countries 🫣 that’s why a lot of people work as personal shoppers. Maybe you can check with Malaysia as well?
Oh wow! I won't be in Malaysia so there is no point sadly. Last time I wanted to buy a Loewe hammock bag in the lace model due to the lovely leather, I decided not to proceed because the sales associate told me I was not able to get my taxes back, and the price was higher. I could never find one again after that and still regretting it. So unless the item is not popular elsewhere or hard to get elsewhere I probably will not look at anything in Jakarta. That is the one trip that is not certain anyway. Thanks so much for that input!! Lots of personal shopper eh? Interesting!

yes, we call them jastiper (people who do jastip/jasa titip), they will do live shopping & their customer will send the money for items the want & the personal shoppers (jastipers) will purchase as behalf of the customers, if you go to Bangkok, and visit December store, you will meet a lot of them

Thanks for the tip! Maybe I can be one for New Zealand 😂

If I am not mistaken, prices are pretty similar in Australia and Singapore, but the Singapore dollar has been quite strong and it's unlikely worth it to purchase in Singapore even with tax free shopping. You can compare the prices on the various Loewe websites for SG and AU to check how the prices exchange back to NZD, I guess? The best places to purchase Loewe in Asia should be Korea and Japan right now.

Thank you so much for this! The exchange rate is a good point. Korea and Japan. Noted. That's my sister's route, so I'll ask her when she is going over next. I wont be around that region until end of the year. Australia is on my schedule in September. Do we know how long items stay in store? I've seen this bag in late October 2023 so I am guessing it is part of their SS 2024 collection and might make its way out by then.....? 👀 Either way, you have been very helpful with your input! Cheers!

It really depends on the popularity of the items of that season. There will be things that sit in the store for half a year and are still around (in the backroom at least - never hurts to ask the SAs directly for item availability even if you don’t spot them displayed) and some items that fly off the shelves in days or weeks (eg the Ghibli collabs and the more coveted items for Suna Fujita). But SS items definitely are very unlikely to be still around in September because FW will be out by then. Hope that helps!

I've been wondering the same. Thank you again!

You can check their website to know which one is the cheapest after converted to your currency.
Last year I bought YSL in Indonesia because it is cheaper than in Singapore even after tax refund.
OH WOW! I should have compared prices and bought that Loewe hammock lace bag in Jakarta in 2017 and not just assumed it was cheaper in Singapore with tax refund 😭 Because I could never find that bag again and I am still regretting it. The leather was much nicer than all the other hammock bags and it literally stopped me on my tracks when I was walking pass their window. I was not looking for anything but there it was. I just had to stop and catch my breath as I gasp. The other hammock bags do not have the same affect on me 😭

Anyways, it seems it is just a matter of checking each time which means it is the currency exchange fluctuation that plays the part for now.

Thank you!

So where is the cheapest?
Sydney. But not by much. But that was the other day. Currency exchange rates might have fluctuated and this may no longer be the case as I am typing this.

After I concluded based on the currency exchange rates at the time, that the differences are small, the idea of purchasing during my travels is out.

Because that is not going to be for another few months, and the bag might be out of season by then. So it is not worth the risk.

Once I have decided I will not wait for my travels to purchase one, I decided to buy online, since there is no Loewe boutique in the country.

Once online purchase was decided, Jakarta is out.

But, in buying online, the concept of "where" the item is purchased from becomes slightly blurry.

Online purchases from New Zealand are often coordinated from Sydney, Singapore, or Hong Kong. Even though we are charged in NZ Dollars, paying NZ taxes.

These cities and countries are Asia Pacific bases of operations for a lot of companies, with products are usually distributed from Singapore or Hong Kong.

So the interface looks like it is in NZ, but the actual operations are split between costumer care communication centre, and product distribution centre in other countries.

For Loewe this is Hong Kong.

For other brands, like Louis Vuitton for example, LV Sydney serves as customer care communication centre for NZ, while LV products are shipped from Singapore.
