Before I plunk down 5K or more on a new flap bag I wanted to know if the lock on the flaps show wear and tear from opening and closing it. I was thinking of a black flap with silver hardware. I wanted to know if the silver coating wears off , tarnishes or chips. If it does show signs of wear and tear can you show me photos? I do lots of "research" before spending thousands of dollars on a handbag. Thank you so much.

This. A higher price tag does not mean they use leathers or hardware with unusual abilities to withstand signs of wear / deterioration over time.
The back plate where it hits the turnlock and the turnlock itself if you are not careful with aiming it through the time then yes it will get scratched and tarnish overtime. I'm not too bothered by that because it really isn't that obvious like big chips or anything, just lost of colour and hairline scratches ( mine was gold so maybe silver is less obvious)
