Hi ladies!

I was wondering if anyone can tell me a bit more about Hermes lizard bags. Generally I'm a huge fan of exotics; I have a fair number of python / ayers items, and a bought my first-ever crocodile bag this year! I know with python there are issues w/ the scales peeling over time and thus python items not aging as well as regular leather or, say, crocodile which actually becomes softer and more beautiful with age.

Contemplating the purchase of a lizard handbag, does anyone have insights on how this type of skin differs from the others? Does it change texture/color as it ages or require special care?

TIA!! I reallie appreciate how everyone on tpf is so generous with their knowledge & sharing with us newbies!!

In my experience :

1-Lizard is easy to maintain with REPTAN. A a speial Gel for exotics from Saphir/Avel.

2-Bright colors can fade away if too much exposed to sun light. (It takes years, though)

I  Hermes lizard !!!

My Hermes lizard is only a few months old so I don't have firsthand experience, but I have been told by a craftsman that to minimize fading I should keep it out of the sun and artificial light as much as possible (keep in sleeper which I do anyway for all my bags) and for general conditioning to send it in for spa visit every couple of years.

has anyone heard from their SA abt lizard skins turning darker thru age???

recently i eyed on something in lizard shiny, it was a very nice med-tone blue (i didnt manage to get the color name) & the SA actually didnt recommend it - he said it will turn darker with age... :(
