I just had to share my recent experience with selling my new Pochette Metis on ebay. Sold on 11/5, shipped to ebay authenticator since they provide "authenticity guarantee" now and it arrived to them 11/12. Address shipped to was North Las Vegas and when I searched the address on google it came up as one of those temporary job agencies. I purchased the PM from my local boutique too.

My description as stated was it came with box, dust bag and including receipt. Missed my return window and provided the receipt. Made in italy. This bag didn't have the serial # code or whatever and I heard now with some bags they are micro chipped? Pretty sure LV wouldn't sell me a fake bag. As of this morning I get the package back and my receipt is gone including dust bag and the bag for some reason if I am overthinking it, it doesn't look exactly like the same bag I shipped?!?!?!? The email I previously received was saying they are shipping it back to me for a refund to the buyer as they couldn't verify it's authenticity and it doesn't match description. I have been selling on ebay for years and I am very thorough and detailed along with crisp clear pictures. Great seller rating as well!

Sorry I am just so upset and don't advise anyone to sell with this terrible experience. Idk what to do and I have tried contacting customer service to only be told that I still need to isueu refund!!!!

I still use eBay but I’ve had a couple of issues with them in the past. On one occasion I had a buyer returning a bag as SNAD claiming a broken zipper, when I knew it was perfect when shipped. I spent the next few days panicking that she’d damaged it but it arrived back in exactly the same condition, zipper perfectly fine. Clearly a case of buyer’s remorse which unfortunately eBay will often accommodate. They’ve also removed my listings for authentic items, for being counterfeit, and advised me that I may not list them again. These items have all been genuine, and I have always provided ample photographs to illustrate that. It baffles me how so many terrible fakes are on there at all times, yet my authentic items have been removed. Crazy. Challenge this though — you didn’t even receive back everything you sent! Dust bag and receipt are part of the product.

I am so sorry this happened  hopefully you can fight this and ebay can refund the buyer themselves. screw ebay, I also had a bad experience which almost made me lose nearly $1500 however I won my case, this was before they did their authenticity guarantee bs whoever these people are - and when paypal was still of service

So very sorry this is happening to you.
Do you think LV can scan the bag you received back to see if it's a match to the one they sold you?
Unfortunately you will have to refund the buyer- as they are not involved in this fiasco- before trying to claw your money back from eBay

I'm not sure exactly how the authentication program works but it's possible that when an item is rejected, they automatically refund the buyer (from the seller's funds) so you might want to verify that the money hasn't already been returned.

Utterly ridiculous! I was wondering what was going to happen with the newer bags without the # featured as part of description. Hope you receive you items back and have some ability to argue this with Ebay. I hate taking a hit with selling to resellers but wrestle with whether Ebay is worth this aggravation as a seller. Good Luck.

I just sold a new LV speedy and this is the first time I’m going through the authenticity guaranteed process. The bag has a chip as it’s new. Ive been selling for over 20 years with 100% positive feedback and I have to admit to feeling anxious about this. Who are these authenticators and what experience do they have? I will be pi**ed if the bag comes back to me. Ugh.

OP - do you have an update? This same situation just happened to me trying to sell a Chanel bag. I bought directly from my Chanel SA, it's 100% authentic. I was literally shocked and the only feedback was "It does not seem authentic." First and last time trying to sell on eBay.

i had a thought...do you have a friend who sells on eBay? i'm asking because if you take new pics and a friend puts it on for you, i wonder if it will go through just fine...i was pretty concerned after i read your post because when i initially posted here on the LV forum, several members told me it didn't look authentic even though i bought it from LV myself! i sold that and a gucci and both passed authentication...so, i'm wondering if you just got a "bad" authenticator and should try again?

The risk with that (if discovered) is that ebay takes a dim view of members using a different ID (friend, spouse, relative, neighbor) to circumvent blocks (as a buyer) or to list a previously listed item if deemed fake. I'm not sure that it's worth a possible suspension.

A better idea might be to have it professionally authenticated, appeal to ebay for reinstatement of the listing, then when it sells, send it out with a copy of the professional documentation.
