Lint clinging to my new canvas

Has anyone purchased the new canvas collection and had the issue of lint, hair, and other debris clinging to it? I have just received the drawstring in black and noticed right away as soon as I got it out of the plastic everything was sticking to it. Luckily I don't have pets but all my friends and family do. I have other pieces in the collection in the colors Forest and Beige that do not do this. I'm in love with this drawstring and debated getting it in forest or beige but chose black because I wanted to be able to use it and not worry about it clashing with what I'm wearing. I am wondering if anyone else noticed this or has any suggestions on how to fix the problem. I do scotch guard the canvas and I don't want to until I'm sure I'm going to keep it. I don't want to keep a bag that attracts everything to it and have to constantly lint roll it. Please help. Or any thoughts on what you would do in this situation...return and exchange for a different color? It's an amazing collection and I recommend buying it but not in black.

That is not good news. I don't have anything from the new canvas line.
My one thought is that the bag was packaged in plastic, and maybe it created
a static condition and that's why the handbag is attracting so much lint.
You could try to wipe down with a slightly damp cloth to see if you can
break the static bond. It shouldn't hurt the bag. Try to use a cloth that is a similar
color to the bag and one that's old and not linty..... like an old, well used, clean
wash cloth.
If that doesn't solve the problem, I think I would avoid purchasing any more and
consider returning the one you have. A light color might not show lint, but it can still
attract stray threads and fibers from clothing. And it will show dirt a lot more easily too.

You have 30 days to return it. I’d give the bag a try for a few weeks, see how it goes. If you decide to keep it, then scotchguard it. I’ve been looking at this bag in the French blue color too.
