I had never had imagined what my dream ring would look like. I used to think that a total carat would be fine. A round solitaire would be simple but elegant.

But when I really had to pick up the diamond (2 years ago, my bf just wanted to bought me before the price increased.) My mom and my bf agreed that 1 carat was not enough :graucho: It took months to find the perfect diamond. When the size was right, the color was not. When the color and size were right, the clarity was not...

Finally, I've got a beautiful 1.88-carat-heart-shape diamond. When I first saw it, I knew this is the ONE. I’d never thought that I would get a heart-shape diamond. But the deal was incredible. Everything about this diamond was just perfect. I’ve posted here 2 years ago asking about its setting.

The diamond had been lying comfortably in the safe for 2 years. Then my bf came up again and told me that he gave me "green light" to have it set. I’ve already had 2 years to think about the setting. I went straight to my jeweler. It took a month until I got a ring of my dream.

The diamond is heart shape.
1.88 carat
7.12x7.88x5.11 mm. (I’ve read that if the width and length ratio is around 1, it’s a more perfect heart. So I think this one is quite good.)
H color VVS2
Fluorescent slight
finish good/very good
setting in white gold.

I’ve been with my bf for almost 9 years. We’re planning to tie the knot next year.

QUESTIONS
1. Is anybody here in medical field? I’m a dentist so I literally wear gloves everyday. What do you do with your ring then? Now I’m only wearing my Bvlgari B zero 1 band, never wearing a “big rock”. I'm afraid the my diamond will become loose without me noticing since it is a heart shape which tends to loose more easily.

2. I did notice that the 2 upper prongs were not symmetry. I would like to ask all of you that are they easily noticeable or it's just because I'm a dentist. We were trained to notice 0.25 mm. different, seriously. I did commented with my jeweler. She said that it could be fixed but it's going to take one day and I had to send the ring and the diamond to the more equipped place. I decided to bring it home first to see if I can live with it. What do you think?

Lovely!!!! I do not notice the difference in the upper prongs, but clearly it bothers you so I would let it fix then.
The setting of your ring is gorgeous and I love the heart shape!

It's beautiful! Congrats! You rarely see the heart shaped diamonds. =)

I didn't notice the symmetry at first, but after you pointed it out, the right prong is a bit more tilted...? I think that with these things, once you notice it, it'll just keep tugging at you every time you look at it (especially with your training lol!). Might as well part with it for a day or two, get it touched up, and not worry about having to "live with it". :p

Hi, firstly congrats on the ring, it really is beautiful.

I am a dentist. I choose not to wear my rings to work for cross infection contrlo reasons. The gloves will tear over the rings and when washing hands I don't want any contamination to go into the rings. Best to wear around the neck on a chain or leave them at home.

I equate wearing rings to the neck tie of a doctor, too many contaminants to take from pt to pt.

How beautiful!

I can't help you out with the ring and your job, but on the setting aspect, I didn't notice anything until it was specifically mentioned. And even then I had to keep looking at your picture and studying it before I could see any difference.

I didnt really notice it until you mentioned it - to me it doesnt seem very noticeable though. The ring is so pretty, love that stone! congrats!

Your ring is beautiful! I didn't notice the prong placement until I went back to look at it after reading what you said about it. I think I'd get it fixed, else it'll bother you.

As for dentists wearing rings - I'm not a dentist but I've spent enough time in dentists' chairs to have formed an opinion. :D I would think it would be a major hassle to be constantly pulling gloves on over a ring like that, and would probably tear the gloves. I think I'd opt to not wear the ring to work.

Thanks everyone!! I'm going out to work now and decided to wear the ring...for just today. I just couldn't resist:p Turning the ring to side a bit is a great idea since most of my professors were wearing BIG stone rings even though they were wearing gloves.

I do notice that the prongs aren't set at the same spot, but maybe there is a reason for it?

I am not usually a fan of a heart shaped stone, but your ring is spectacular!
