I didn't know what else to title this thread as
Can anyone tell me with designers Mark Morrell and Leon Mege do you pay such a mark up as with Tiffanys
It's difficult to explain what I mean.
For example would a 1 carat solitair with exact same metal and quality diamond ..identical ring as close as possible cost more from Tiffanys/cartier or leon mege/mark morrell
The reason is as I really love the look of mark morrell and leon mege rings however i am trying to avoid paying the brand mark up that comes with tiffanys
i do expect if i choose custom work to pay extra as you would anywhere though
sorry if the question confusing anyone i'm trying to explain what i mean best i can , i'd really appreciate any input, thanks

Leon Mege would be cheaper. I have several friends who worked with him. I think he does beautiful work and would still like to work with him in the future for a RHR. He is quite a bit of a diva. I'm not so familiar with Mark Morrell. You can email Leon for a quote - I think he also has his own diamond sourcing service now so he should be able to give you a rough price estimate?

leon mege will send you a quote as long as you fill out all the fields through his electronic inquiry form. he can also source you a diamond. i know this because i came very close to getting a right hand diamond ring made by him. gl.

i also think that though "pricier" then less know jewelers, leon mege is still not as pricey as tiffany or cartier.

Mark Morrell does not sell diamonds. You supply the diamond and it must go to him from an appraiser or jeweler. He does not accept anything from the purchaser. He also does not work with people who "tell him what they want". You can do custom but you don't get a lot of say in the final piece. He just does the settings/rings/earrings. He supplies the tiny stones in the settings that have diamonds, and does not accept yours.

So if you want any control of the design, he is NOT your man.

That said, for one of his "Standard" platinum settings JUST the setting, expect JUST the setting to be $2,000 and up. He is NOT cheap.

I've corresponded with Mark Morell (first through his assistant) and he is a gentleman. Very pleasant & wiling to listen to your point of view.

That being said, I didn't order anything with him (yet!), but his work and quality speak for themselves.

Ame is right in that Mark does NOT accept the stone from the purchaser/client directly but you know what? I'd drop him a line or give him a call to chat with him further if you're serious.

Leon's work is gorgeous! And I LOVE reading his commentary on the various pieces he sells.

Bottom line, you cannot go wrong with either of these artists! And YES......depending on your specifications/wants/needs/desires, they may be a less expensive route compared to the brand-name stores.
