Right but when it comes to selling, will the value of the bag go down?
Not sure people punch holes in the straps on Hermes or chanel or something like that too
You’re good. Adding another hole to the strap doesn’t affect the resale value at all as it doesn’t alter the bag in any shape or form (not sure if the same applies to houses like Hermes though). Now if you cut the strap to shorten it, that would be another story.

I’ll take the other side- as a buyer I would want to know if any manual alterations have been made because that means the brand would likely not accept the bag for servicing if needed. So, I think you need to disclose to buyers if you decide to sell and I would expect a discount as a buyer even though this is a very minor change.

might depend also on how well done the new hole is? is it noticeable or just like the original holes?

If you get it done by a cobbler / leather specialist and it matches the other holes, I would not expect it to drop the value at all. Almost no one would know and count strap holes.

In any case, I would urge you to make the adjustment. Bags are meant to be enjoyed. I wouldn’t limit my enjoyment thinking about resale.

I would of course do whatever allows you to use the bag without regard to resale. However, in the pic you posted, there doesn’t seem to be much strap allowance, and Im not sure a single hole Would make much difference. JMO though and YMMV
