Leave feedback or not?

Saw an item with a best offer on ebay. Put in an offer upon which the seller
asked if I would mind paying for the item via pp directly. I did not respond
to this but nonetheless the seller accepted my offer & the transaction
was completed via ebay.

The seller sends me an e-mail after I paid telling me she would ship
out the beginning of the week as she was leaving for a long weekend.
No problem.

Seller e-mails me to tell me the item is missing or stolen from her suitcase
& has contacted an attorney. She also did refund the full amount.

Would you leave feedback for this seller & if so, would you leave
a neutral or negative?

Gotcha, I guess I just don't see the value in leaving any feedback for her, especially since you can't prove that she's lying about the item. Obviously if she didn't give you a refund or delayed giving you one then I would feel differently but as it is........meh, to me it wouldn't be worth a second thought but that's just me.
Sorry your transaction went south!

I actually would leave neutral factual feedback. Something like "Seller said item stolen or lost." "Gave refund." It's not a negative, but warns buyer they may not get their item. I'm guessing she got a better offer.

This is what I suspect as well in addition to that it appears seller
did not have the item in her possession & went to pick it up, packed
it in a suitcase & claims the item was stolen/lost..

If she did get a better offer I also suspect she wanted to complete
the transaction off ebay & new buyer may have been inclined to do so.

This may be true but without knowing I guess I feel it's not fair to "assume" what happened.

I got a negative FB once on ebay because I sold an item (at a really bargain price) and before shipping it out noticed it had a crack in it so I gave my buyer a refund. I know she assumed that because she got this antique item at such a low price that it was merely because I wasn't happy with the low price that she paid. She was so angry and didn't believe me but I sent her photos of the crack and did apologize.....she retracted her negative FB luckily but it didn't feel too good to have someone think I was lying:nogood:

When you sent a picture of the area in question to your buyer, she more or
less had "proof" that indeed the item was damaged as you said that it was
& retracting her feedback was the right thing to do.

Because this particular seller initially wanted to take the transaction
off ebay & that the item was not in her possession, just question whether
the item was really lost/stolen & perhaps she just wanted to sell it for more
than my offer was & came up with this excuse that's about as old & tired
as it gets.

Agree that retracting her FB was the right thing to do but she still didn't have to do it.

And I agree totally that your sellers story is 'sketchy' at best yet you still have no real proof..that's why I wouldn't leave any FB at all and would move on. Obviously it's up to you and how much you really wanted said item. Sounds like quite a bit and again, sorry it didn't work out but it's ebay after all.......flakes abound!!:nuts::nuts::nuts:
