I am starting to consider adding vintage Hermes bags in box leather to my collection. I know that the type of leather Hermes has used under the nom of "Box" has changed over the years. I've read tPF threads that have mentioned production years in which the nature of the box leather itself has changed: from thicker to thinner, softer to more rigid, etc.
What I am seeking is a guide that encompasses changes Hermes has made to their box leather selection over time. I know I've read this info here and there in the forum, but it would be a great help to have it in one place. Leather experts: please assist!
I would like to start in the 50s and carry through to the current production year. Personally, I am happiest with leather that is shiny, stiff, and will not slouch over the decades.
