Hi everyone! Do any of you layer a tennis necklace with your 10 motifs? Or is this really bad idea in case of scratching? I am considering getting a short (like 15 inch) tennis necklace to sit above my 10 motif. Has anyone done this, did you like them together? Or if not, are there any necklace combinations you like with your 10 motifs or do you wear them alone always?

My husband bought me a tennis necklace for Christmas of 2023 and I have never taken it off. Typically I do wear it alone, but I layer it with 10 motifs (and 20 motifs!) often and have not had an issue. I've also layered it with the Cartier JUC necklace too many times to count and, again, no issues.

Never thought about this, but this ATE. I am planning on buying a tennis necklace this year. When it comes to layering it with a 10 motif, I would prefer a smaller rocks tennis necklace. I really like this idea and I think you don't need to worry about scratching, if the tennis bracelet sits 1-2 cm above your 10 motif

I’ve purchased a tennis necklace, I’m just having it shortened, I’m also planning on adding a 10 motif but I was thinking of adding one of my 5 motifs to make it 15 and that would look great layered together :)

A short tennis necklace would pair beautifully with the 10-motif pattern in a stacked fashion according to my opinion. Drawstrings of different length at your neck create a captivating stacked appearance which I have observed in others. Although scratching poses some potential risk it wouldn't create significant problems because the motifs have freedom of movement.

Thanks everyone! I’m specifically thinking of pairing my guilloche 10 motif (which is unaltered, so about 16.5 inches I think) with a shorter tennis necklace (15 inches) so that’s why I worry about scratching because the guilloche scratches easily! But it sounds like the trick is to ensure the tennis necklace is at least 1 inch shorter then I should be ok?

I agree with you re: scratching. I think the guilloche should stand alone (just my 0.02)

If you don’t care about scratches and love the look then go for it. The tennis necklace will scratch the 10 motif, some stones more than the solid gold pieces. Hammered will probably hide the scratches the best but scratches are inevitable given the hardness of diamonds and the metal of the prongs on the tennis necklace. Whether one likes that mixing of styles, it’s just personal preference.

The only one I really like, and it’s on,y bc she’s young, gorgeous, and has a long neck, is heart evangelista with a six motif magic necklace and diamond riviera. But, I do not think this is an easy look to pull off with the casual elan that she has. And, I think the six motif is more interesting than the plain ten vintage when paired like this. It’s somehow less serious, more lighthearted. But JMO and YMMV . ETA: a higher scoop neckline can even cover the dangling motifs for a more understated look (see second pic which I think loses some of the charm of this look)
