So,

I was able to buy a large edgepaint borough in camel/bright mandarin on PCE thanks to my lovely SA, but when the bag came today I didn't connect with it. There was a dent on the bag, and some scratches, which leads me to think that it's not as durable as I would like; also the leather was not as supple as I was expecting.

With that, I'm considering other options of the borough, with the merchandise credit I'll be getting-please offer your insights on the large Marobox in oxblood, and the Large Bar Striped borough :D. For those who own these bags, or have seen them in person, I would love to hear your feedback on these bags! Thanks so much!

Out of curiosity, why would you be getting a merchandise credit vs. a straight refund?

Marobox looks more prone to scratches than the pebbled--it's a high polish leather so it's not only stiffer but more susceptible to screeches.

The bar striped is retro leather...so if you didn't like the edge pain (which is retro glove tanned leather according to the website) you probably won't care for the leather on this one either.

The bearskin looks pretty resilient--since it has the embossed pattern it looks less prone to scratches than retro glove tanned leather.

Anyway, good luck with the decision!

^Hi there! I paid with a gift card, so I think that's what I'll be getting the funds back on, therefore time to think about other Coach ;). The pebbled looks and feels quite lovely to my hands, but unfortunately I like to my bags keep their shape. And thank you for mentioning the retro-glove leather; when I looked on the website, they described the edgepaint as a lighter version of that leather, so I'm not sure how much difference there is between the two? I also like the look of the boarskin, but it seems like that variation only comes in a medium.

The reference to "heritage glove tanned"...which I interpret to be the same smooth leather used on the "retro" version.:smile1:

They really need to update the Descriptions online!

Maybe they'll bring out a bearskin embossed later in the season--maybe next month?

I don't know about the Marobox but as someone else posted, I think it would scratch easily. Also, it seems more dressy imo too. I do have the large Bar Striped and I LOVE it! Pics really don't do it justice imo. I revealed it here -

At first the size was a little intimidating, which is odd since I lean towards large bags. It might be all the sections. That took a little getting used to but now I'm good. It's so versatile - casual or business, even dressy. I love how it can be a satchel, shoulder bag or crossbody bag. I get tons of compliments every time I carry her. I don't think you'll be disappointed!

Hi! Thank you for your reply! Your reveal was what set me thinking about the bag  Do you think the bar-striped will be less prone to scratches?

Glad I could be an enabler! :graucho:

I don't know if it'll be less prone to scratch but I think the scratches would show less on the Bar Striped than the Marobox. Hopefully someone that has that one will chime in.

I know! The description is so confusing. In the preview pictures, I have seen boarskin in a east-west town tote, but not in the large borough. Hope they'll release more choices for the large!

I have a medium marobox and it seems very durable, no scratches so far, but I'm sure it must be more delicate than pebbled. I was just drooling over the large marobox Oxblood last night...I don't have a need for it but wish I did. It looks like a truly exceptional, classic, gorgeous bag.

Thank you for your input! I think I may take a shot at the marobox...it seems that's the "shinier" leather on the strips of my large patchwork? So far I haven't had any problems with those parts of the bag, and I used it for about 3 weeks straight. But I also thought the retro-glove are the smooth (not-shiny) portion of my patchwork, and it looks like I must be wrong-none of the leathers on my patchwork have any marks on it. Truly remarkable! I just hope they'll allow PCE's to be used on boroughs for the next event.

I hope you're right about PCE on Boroughs. My SA told me today the Borough is excluded again. Hopefully that's not correct...

Oh no! :nogood: Why do they keep doing that? So irritating...I wonder if can contact my SA, and ask if I can exchange this one for another borough...hmm :thinkin:

Well that's just what she told me today. She could be wrong. I heard that this was supposedly a one time thing - allowing PCE on Borough. But, we all know how Coach works. LOL I think you can do an exchange and not lose the discount. Worth asking anyway.
