I'm contemplating a new pair of flats and I was just wondering what would be the major differences for these 2 brands of shoes besides price. Are Lanvins really worth the $$?

I have owned both, and I didn't find the Eddies to be very comfortable. I returned them. The Lanvins were nice, but I found that Tod's and Valentino flats worked better for me.

The Lanvins often go on sale, I got mine from Barney's.

Thanks for the info. The Lanvin's I was looking at were on pre-sale @ Nordstrom. I never have looked into those other brands though...yet. Would you say you could wear the others during a vacation as walking around shoes?

Which Lanvins were on pre-sale? I am interested in getting another pair. I have the Eddie's as well and they are very uncomfortable, I even had them resoled and I can still feel every piece of gravel that I walk on. The Lanvins are worth the money and are much more comfortable. It would be great to get another pair on sale too!

I presold them at the Nordstrom on Michigan Avenue in Chicago. They had a pair of black flats with a flower, some black/white snakeprint like canvas flats (the one I'm getting), and a pair of pink flats is what I remember. I don't know of any high heeled shoes since I was focusing on flats. Do you do anything to your Lanvins before you start wearing them since they're slippery on the bottom?

Actually I bought the Lanvin flats in black with the silk flower on the top. I didn't do anything to them at all and I've had them for about a month. I don't find them slippery at all and I work on tiled floors and they've been fine. I will eventually get them resoled but the sole is holding up pretty well, I am pleasantly surprised.
How much are the pink ones?

I think the best comparison to Lanvin's are Vera Wang Lavender Label "Lilian", not the Tory Burch "Eddie."

Tory Burch "Eddie":
-more round shaped toe, slightly more relaxed shape
-memory foam insole
-buttery soft leather upper, but wears down very quickly
-thinner sole, gets scratched on bottom quickly
-logo on back of heel and bottom of heel

Lanvin:
-more refined, slightly tapered rounded toe
-hidden wedge for comfort
-slightly thicker leather, smoother finish

Vera Wang Lavender Label "Lilian":
-pretty much exactly the same as Lanvin for less than 1/2 the price

I have all 3 of the above and I highly recommend the Vera Wang Lilians. I'm a huge fan and have 3 pairs...black leather, nude patent, and blue leather! I LOVE all things Lanvin but can honestly say that I think the Vera Wangs win due to the price difference.

Thanks for the in-depth review. I totally forgot to think about the Vera Wang flats. Do you know if any of these really dig into the back into your Achilles tendon? I went all cheap one day and got some Gap flats and they killed me. I think that's why I'm so cautious about investing in a new pair.

Personally, they are the most comfortable flats I own and have never dug into my heel. I have them in two sizes and even the smaller ones don't dig, they are just ever so slightly more snug in the toe area. I have many other flats that dig awfully after a long day but these don't at all. In the thread dedicated to Vera Wang Lilians, some people did say they had this problem, so I guess it varies depending on the person. Hopefully you can try them on in person before buying!

I will! Thanks :D

I was just looking at these same 3 pairs. I wasn't willing to pay for the Lanvin, and the Eddie seemed so flimsy. I got the VW Lillian. They are cute and seem well made but the elastic really digs near my big toe after an hour of two. They are so comfortable when I put them on but after an hour or two they are unbearable. Do you think there is any way to stretch/fix this?

I have a pair of the Eddie flats, I really liked them at first just wearing them around town to work(I have a desk job)not a problem. Then I really tested them while shopping on Michigan Ave and OMG my feet were killing me I couldn't wait to get back to the car to take them off. The back part of my heels was blistered from the schruncie part in the back rubbing it. The soles are leather and after my first major walking trip in them they had huge chunks/holes in them. I was really disapointed in the quality in them and I've been too afraid to wear them again since. I also when I first got them I had hard time walking on carpets with the leather soles I felt like I was ice skating the SA told me to wear them on the street and rub the soles across the ground to "break them in". After wearing them a bit it did get better. Honestly my last experience wearing them has kind of soured me on them, I'm sure I'll give them another try at some point. But I honestly don't think I'll ever use them for more than just running out to run a few errands.

Yes, I've been nervous getting a pair of Eddie's because of the elastic on the back. I do have the a couple pairs of the leather & patent reva's, but they are used strictly for work. I am hoping these Lanvins are as comfy as people say they are so I can shop down Michigan avenue and not have to look for a store with flip flops to change into. I tend to shop for hours at a time w/ tons of walking so these better work!!!

I never even thought of that how sad is that? All those stores and the idea never crossed my mind.
