Hi everyone!

I am about to buy a lab grown diamond studs either 2carats or 3 carats (per stud) in Martini (3-prong) setting.

Since I am buying these online, maybe someone could show how these sizes fit on the ear. I’ve seen google images, but the sizes really vary. I have no trying option as there aren’t any available in my city/country.

Also what is the best option for earring back type? Screws or push backs?

There’s tons of articles but what is the actual comfort? My studs will be worn daily.

Thank you in advance!

I am assuming you're buying studs for your regular ear lobe piercings?
Are you intending to sleep in them or take them off before bed?

I have a pair of pushback diamond studs that I feel were well designed. They are very secure and have 2 notches on the post. This is to adjust for earlobe thickness but since I use the notch that is closer to the stud, I like to think that the 2nd notch is like a backup in case the pushback is ever accidentally moved (though I doubt it, it's very tight).

If you want to sleep with them I suggest posts that are not too long and screw with a flat back. This is my favorite for cartilage piercings because I never take them off and flat back screws are the most secure while being the most comfortable. (been stabbed mutiple times with posts that use push backs and the sphere screws can be tricky to put on because of how smooth and round the backing is.)

I also feel that how your piercing was done can determine comfort level down the line. I got mine done with a needle gun. It caused me problems down the line. The piercing hole was way too small for most posts, I had to stretch it out. And because they were done with a gun and not positioned correctly, they're actually slanted. (So the hole itself is fine, the direction of the post is slanted). This makes certain earrings uncomfortable to wear depending on weight, size, and shape.
Just something to think about. Hopefully you got yours professionally done with an actual needle vs a gun.

Whether you go with 4cttw or 6cttw really depends on the position of your ear piercings and the size of your ear lobes, IMHO. The only way to know which would be best for you is to go to a jeweler and actually try on these sizes. Looking at the photo @Swanky added, she chose the perfect size for herself.

One thing I'll add is that the cost of lab grown diamonds continues to drop, so you can get more oomph for your money. If the larger 6cttw works for the position of your ear piercing and ear lobe, you might want to go with that.

I have pretty small ears (chubby but small), I have a combo of 3 and four prong, yellow and white, screw and push back.

From top to bottom (carats for each stone): 0.75 ct yellow gold 4 prong push back, 1.5 ct white gold 4 prong push back, 3 ct white gold 3 prong screw-back. But I also own 0.25 ct white 3 prong and 0.75 white 3 prong screw back if you need more comparision - they're all a mix of natural and lab, I do not have a bias towards either type of stone. I wear a mix of earrings daily :)

I wear just over 4cttw natural RBs
I hate screw backs, they hurt my ear, I use locking back discs from Chrysmela for security and to hold studs upright.
Here’s a just over 2 carat stud next to just over 4 carat center stone I took for the jeweler.
Can you give me the link to these backings? My DH bought me a gorgeous pair of diamond studs for Valentine’s Day and they are drooping!!! Will these backings work with pushback earrings and do they come in white gold? Thank you!!!

You can find the discs here and the color options:

I have with discs - these work really well with larger studs as disc holds the stud upright.

I ordered from amazon and it's written there:
  • Universal Fit: Replaces screw on earring backs, friction, butterfly, and French backs.
  • Double-locking mechanism fits all earring posts (0.6-1.1mm)
Just to be sure - you can write to their customer service on official page, they answered really quickly.
