I recently got my driver's license! It's whole other story why I only got my license this late in life, but one of the things I motivated myself was that I would get some sort of key pouch as a present to myself should I pass.

Naturally and the reason I posted in the LV forum, I thought of the LV canvas key pouch that everyone says it's so hard to get but so versatile. But I also don't know if that is what I wanted to go for.

A couple of things I was wondering: The cars I've driven for lessons are older models that have the traditional keys. While I haven't thought about buying a car yet, I was wondering if there's any type of key pouch I should or shouldn't consider based on the type of car keys and its size? I've heard of cars that have a button and no keys, so is it pointless to even get a key pouch? I am leaning on getting some sort of key pouch because in addition to holding the car key, it can hold some coins or card (preferably card). I'm not considering keychains because there's no other function to it for me.

Second and more fun question is, does anyone recommend any type of key pouch for car keys whether it is LV or other brands? I poked around the Dior and Fendi site and didn't find anything. I saw that Gucci has a few but I'm generally not crazy about Gucci (although the Ophida GG key pouch looks practical). I'm open to Chanel although I doubt I'd get anything lambskin for this purpose. Obviously, I know about the LV canvas key pouch, which I think it's the most affordable compared to similar luxury brands. I was also eyeing the new key pouch in empreinte in navy blue. It looks sparkly somehow in the pictures and I wonder if any of those pearly sparkle will rub off over time. it's also considerably more than the canvas version at $410.

Appreciate any insights people have!

Congrats on getting your license !! I would recommend the traditional key pouch in canvas or the 6 key pouch to hold other keys - house key, mailbox key, work keys etc. Also depends if your car will have a key fob or not in the future.
I think the leather ones are not as flexible...and I would hate to stretch the leather.

I would get the regular key pouch as it’s pretty versatile. If you carry several physical keys in addition to the car key/fob maybe the 6 key holder. I have no other keys I carry, so the key pouch works great for my fob, and I can throw some cash and a card or 2 in with it if needed. Congrats on getting your license!

Congrats on getting your license!

I love the LV key pouch. It’s my most used SLG and I have several, both the smaller and larger canvas versions and the larger Vernis and Empreinte versions. I don’t carry my car key inside, I attach it to the clip and carry it that way. I find the pouches very handy for storing car park tickets, shopping trolley/cart tokens, maybe some spare cash etc. I don’t think you can go wrong with any style of clés. You may struggle to fit your key inside though, if that’s what you want to do. My father has a car with a card that slots in to start the engine. I know that would fit in there for sure!

Hi! I would also choose the key pouch! A key pouch was my first LV piece and I carry one with me everyday! It started as my everyday wallet with keys attached to the clip, but I’ve also used it as a coin purse, a place to store my extra cards, a tiny catch all, and currently I’m using it to store my keys inside of the pouch. I’ve definitely gotten my money’s worth out of this piece. Congrats on getting your license btw!

I have a 6 ring key holder. I prefer it over the key pouch because I have multiple keys and my key fob is a little bulky. I don't like digging my things out of a pouch.
While the 6 ring key holder has a snap closer, so it's very quick and easy access.

With either a key holder or a key pouch, just make sure nothing presses too much/hard against the key fob. I've had a couple times in which a key was pressed on top of my key fob and opened up the back trunk of my car. My neighbors knocked on my door to let me know my trunk was open

Congrats on getting out license!! I have the LV key cles pouch and the Gucci Ophidia GG. I tend to use my GG more than the LV. It just fits my key fob better and I can still have room for a tube of lip balm and few small items.

I have the key pouch in canvas for the bulky car key and my driving license. I prefer to keep my home keys separately so put them in the 4 key ring holder. If I have to choose one only, then definitely the key pouch cos it’s so versatile.

Thank you for all of your comments and insight! Much appreciated! I am undecided between the Ophida and the LV clé, but I will probably check the Ophida out in person in order to decide. I figure it'll also be luck whether I can get my hands on the LV clé. Again, thanks everyone!!!

I bought, tried, and sold the six key holder a couple times. The key pouch is my favorite since it is so versatile and holds my fob/keys without a bulge like the six key holder. I had to send the six key holder to get new glazing on my older one (then sold it). I have never had issues with my key pouch. Other brands have similar items to the six key holder, but the other brands key pouches do not compare to the LV key pouch.

I don’t like the canvas keypouch as I used to. Mine is now sitting in dust bag forgotten. While I joy the use of the Mahina key pouch.

I prefer the 6 key holder over the canvas key pouch.
