Hi ladies! I'm thinking about adding a smaller bag to my wishlist, one that can ideally work for more formal functions/evening. Deciding between the Kelly Elan vs the To Go: I like how you can detach the strap and turn them into a clutch. Kelly Elan looks like it holds more and doubles as more of a proper shoulder bag (which is great!) but is it too big/bulky for an evening clutch? The To Go is more of a traditional clutch size, but does it not hold a lot?

I don't have an Elan (although I want one), but I do own a KTG. I can fit a few credit/debit cards, some cash, one car key, my iPhone mini in a slim case, one lipstick and a slender pair of reading glasses in my KTG. I actually use it as a dining out option all the time, and it could be an evening clutch.

I don't see them as equivalent. I did see an Elan in NY and I view it as something completely different from the KTG. If anything, I'd compare the KTG to the Chanel WTG. The Elan is an actual bag, bigger with more space. I guess it depends on need. Since I often do have to carry more than the bare essentials, if I had to choose one, it would be the Elan. Just because it's bigger, but I use my KTG and my Chanel WTG all the time for dining out/fancy events because of the size.
For me the KTG and Elan are very different bags. I haven’t seen the Elan in person but my SA said that he would recommend a K28 over an Elan due to its size similarity and that the K28 offer more flexibility and space.
ETA: for some context on the convo my SA knew I was interested in eventually getting a K28, he recommended the K28 over Elan due to its size. He said the Elan IRL is not as small as it appears in photos

I just got Kelly Elan, it’s so pretty, and perfect for the evening!
It does holds way more compared to Kelly to Go. The strap is a perfect length for the bag to be under your arm

@bordeauxH not sure if you decided yet but thought I’d post a quick update. Reverting back after my last visit to the boutique!
I use my CTG a lot when travelling and wanted a neutral KTG. The specs I wanted arrived and after trying on I was a bit disappointed. I had assumed the inside of the KTG would be identical to the CTG, but it had less card slots, no cash slots, no back pocket and was smaller than the CTG. I could squeeze my phone in but nothing else. And without the should strap on, it looked more like a wallet than a clutch.
When I initially asked for the KTG my SA also threw in the Kelly Elan as a potential backup for my needs. I wasn’t 100% sold on the Elan from what I’ve seen online. I was able to try on both to compare and fell in love with the Kelly Elan. It’s gorgeous in person and fit my frame well. I’m only 5’2”. It’s light and also fits a lot more than I expected. I was able to fit in my house keys, car keys, office keys, lipstick, AirPods, compact Bearn wallet, doggy snacks and my doggy travel water bowl haha.
I could even fit more in if needed
Tbh the Elan is soooo different from the KTG that it still didn’t fill the void so I will probably get another CTG sometime down the road.

I love the Kelly Elan, it's a very elegant bag for almost any occasion.
Here you go, @Israeli_Flava !! I love my Elan, I use it as an evening bag and sometimes in the day as well.
Edited to add, I think it's too casual for more formal occasions.

Rouge H? How is it carrying as a shoulder bag with those sangles? Super fussy because you have to close the bag??? I keep my Kellys open all the time when carrying them because I just can't be bothered....
