Dear H lovers....

I live in Melbourne, Australia and very much would like to order a Kelly bag for myself. I have spoken briefly with a sales assistant at the local store about this.... but... the question I have is this.....

Am I better of ordering from here, and having it made ... or going to Paris and putting an order in? (we travel a little and I have no hesitation in travelling for this purpose alone) Would they take an order from me in Paris, and then when its ready I would travel back to collect it.

I am fairly settled on what I would like... but one thing that I really really want, is to have my initials stamped on my bag... so I am wondering if I order here will they do that.

I would appreciate your thoughts.

Thanks,
angela

Angela, I too live in Victoria, Melbourne being my closest H and I would 100% travel to Paris. For starters the difference in cost would probably pay for 2 trips to Paris, one to order and one to pick up. Although I believe they may post out to Australia, but you would then be up for customs duty, whereas if you pick it up yourself you can get tax back going out of the country (mail your box back home) and carry your Kelly with you. And get a beautiful visit in Paris in the meantime. :woohoo:

Unless you are on the way to Europe, its financially wise to check whats available there. Otherwise, with anything above AU$1k will be tax (GST) as Paris store will fully declare the amount + travelling cost, its not worth it to do so. There is no guarantee as well you will locate a kelly there, despite it seems many have being lucky and done so.

There has been price drop this year in Australian pricing and if you travel and claim GST, its more or less like US price now if Im not wrong.

If you would like to hotstamp, you must bring the bag to the country who has a craftman/lady to get it done (Singapore/HK/Paris) or send it to Paris from Australian local H store with waiting time a couple months. While if u taking it to a store with a craftman/lady, it will take approximatelly 2 weeks or more to get it done.

Good Luck in finding your dream kelly, angela.m ;)

I've experienced it first hand; I couldn't find a Kelly in late June both in London and Paris. I went during the wrong time of year; I read somewhere that the time to go is Sept/ non-holiday/ peak seasons. My wallet got stolen in London hence I looked high/ low for wallets in Paris and couldn't find anything (Constance wallets I've seen weren't practical and I was fixated on the Bearn which in fact I did pick one up on my way home to Melbourne from Malaysia). Good luck Angela.M

Not to discourage you Angela, but it's not guaranteed that you can place any order in Paris, I myself just came back from Paris late Sep, didn't get to place any order at all! The SA said the list was closed 2 days after it's opened!
