Hello Ladies! I have a dilemma. I found a 2006 Kelly 40 etoupe from a local seller for EUR 5,000. Despite knowing pretty much nothing about the brand, this strikes me as an incredibly good deal. The thing is, I have never even thought about spending this much on a bag, and it kind of gives me panic attacks. unfortunately, I've developed a liking for the Kelly while perusing the forum over the past weeks.

My question is, from your experiences, is it easy to resell this type of Kelly? And is this a decent price? She says it has hardly been used (<10 times). If it's a good deal and I could resell someday, I might feel better purchasing. It becomes less terrifying. ;)

Any and all feedback is welcome. Thanks in advance?

I have a Kelly 40,but I have never resold my bags so I can't comment on how well it resells! If it's a 2006 Kelly at 5000euros I think the seller is selling it at almost the price she paid for or only slightly less-I paid 6150euro for mine in 2010....with a 10%increase each year ..I'd consider it a good deal if it's really in good condition.

However do keep in mind that a kelly40 is huge and not a evening bag neither is it a great daybag unless you don't mind big bags and heavy weights. It is a huge investment and unless you have the intention to build a Hermes collection and have the funds to do so,this is not the right bag to invest in to be your one and only. Personally it's one of my lesser used bags, and I do not intend to get another 40 anymore.

Dont be swayed by prices and good deals-a good deal is only when you love the bag 100% and will get the maximum use out of it!

I just typed my reply, and poof! There went the Internet connection.

My whole point was that you're right. I like the smaller Kelly bags much better and am also quite drawn to the more colorful lindy options. I do not intend to build a collection, per se, but I do appreciate the heritage of the brand and would like to have a few pieces in my wardrobe that I can truly appreciate. Unfortunately, it's a seemingly impenetrable world where single purchases as practically unheard of. But I guess I could get lucky someday...

Thanks for your insights. I'll keep stalking the forums for now and when it's meant to be, I'll join the H club ;)
