Kelly 25 Sellier or Retourne

Which Kelly 25 is best?

Please help me decide as I am refining my “ask” for my next bag with my SA. I love thinking of which one to get next. Please offer your opinions.

Current collection: Birkin 30 Togo Gold GHW, Kelly 28 Sellier Noir Epsom GHW, Birkin 25 Noir GHW, Garden Party 30 Toile with Noir

I don't think you have given the proper options

you have got three variables
the only thing that is constant is that you want a Kelly 25
you need to consider the variables separately and in this logical order
firstly do you want sellier or retourne
then which colour: etain or etoupe (either would be a good lighter toned neutral for you to have)
then the leather: Epsom (a leather with a pressed grain) or Togo (with a natural grain)
at that size weight is not going to be an issue

You’d have to decide the leather first as that would likely determine whether you can choose from sellier or retourne.

I completely agree about that constraint. In fact the first decision will affect the all the following options.
Nonetheless I still think the choice between sellier and retourne is fundamental because it affects the functionality of the bag. A lot of ladies dislike the sellier because they find it more difficult to get into - especially in small sizes. Then, off course, there might not be the choice between Togo and Epsom. More people seem really dislike Epsom than have a real dislike for any other leather. Then the colour of choice might not be offered in the leather of choice.

Do you not have a preference between PHW and GHW?
Do you not have a preference between sellier and retourné?
Do you not have a preference between Epsom and Togo?

These are all pretty major differences before we even get to color.
Personally I don't like Epsom as a leather and am iffy on Étoupe as a color (and would prefer PHW on Étoupe - Etain IMO looks good with either HW) - so both of these bags would be a no for me.

Just taking the 2 choices at face value here.. my vote goes to Etoupe GHW as I just love the gray + GHW/RHW combo. I find it's very eye catching but maybe that's just me. :) It could look trendy and not as classic as Etain + PHW though having an Etain GHW bag myself now I imagine that combo will look very cold or cool. If you want a warmer palette go with Etoupe GHW, if you want a cooler palette Etain PHW.

Thank you for your feedback and further probing! I suppose the real answer is that I like both options. Availability is not a constraint, as I find that bags appear after sufficient wait. I am a good Hermes customer. Nevertheless, my home store is a tough one with many big spenders and high competition for bags.
As for other constraints… I like both leathers. In an ideal world, I would take a Kelly 25 Sellier with Togo, but it’s SO and not even available this season. Looking for a timeless, classic and beautiful bag to add to my collection and purpose would be for light use and to have for going out for lunch, dinner, shopping etc. As it seems difficult to get both, I was thinking a Sellier first since it seems more difficult to obtain and my SA seems open to giving me either at the moment. I don’t want to miss my chance :)

I like both GHW and PHW and have enough bags that I like the option of either. More now issue of which hardware goes with which colour best.

If you have a good balance of hardwares and of sellier/retourné Kellys, and like both leathers, then just choose what makes your heart sing the most.

Right now I have two sellier 25s, two sellier 28s, and two retourné 28s. For me it is a size thing and a leather thing. The sellier in 28 just looks a little big on me IMO, as I'm not tall. My 25s are sellier because I love chèvre and it only comes in sellier currently, but I love retourné in 25 and have one on order.

To me all 4 are great.
