Keep one or both? 💚 Toy Loulou & Lou Camera

Hi everyone! I’m contemplating whether I should keep one YSL Camera bag or keep both the camera bag and toy loulou. And if I keep both, which colour of the camera bag should I choose?

I’m now thinking about keeping both in black + ghw because to me that’s the most classic ysl colour combination and goes with everything. But also am thinking if two bags are too similar to have in the same colour. I wear mostly gold/ brass jewelries, I have brown balayage hair and my clothes are mostly in warmer tone so I tend to go with ghw instead of silver.

I’ve been resizing and reorganizing my handbag collection lately. I am looking into getting some staple pieces, try to keep my wardrobe minimum and keep only classic pieces (sold all my Hermes and Chanel and would like to keep it that way for now)

I bought the toy Loulou in black with ghw, thinking that it would be a versatile bag with the option of removable strap, it would be great for me to wear it while dress up or dress down. I also bought the camera bag in Cinnamon and waiting for it to arrive. I’m so nervous about the cinnamon colour because I notice I don’t use bags that are not black that much and now since I’m reorganizing my closet, I want to make sure I make use out of all of them and my mind could just process “black bag goes with everything” for now. It would be the only designer bags in my collection right now that is not black. I thought the shade of brown would add a bit of vintage/ bohemian vibe to my outfits and these would be the two major small crossbody bags in my collection. I have another Coach tabby in avocado and a ysl Nolita mini I am trying to sell right now but that’s about it.

I just received the toy loulou bag and I LOVE IT. But now I’m thinking about my future trips and camera might be a better choice to take with me. I only like to carry one bag with me when travelling so that’s why I’m also thinking if the camera bag in black+ghw would be more versatile for future trips and running errands in general. I feel like I might get the most use out of the camera bag in black because it’s such a practical bag. The toy Loulou looks a little bit too small on my frame with that being said, it’s not a bag that I’m 100% satisfied with even though it is absolutely beautiful when it’s just sitting there on its own, I can’t take my eyes off her. I am not thinking about the small Loulou because I can’t justify the $1200 price difference between the two sizes, not a big fan of the chain straps and thinking it would only look good on me to use as shoulder bag.

AND I don’t usually have any fancy events to go to mostly just weddings. In that case, is it worth keeping the toy loulou? I got the toy Loulou for a pretty good deal on ******* but with the return policy, I might end up losing CAD$150 just to return it…

So now I’m debating either to:
1. Return both toy Loulou (lose $150) and camera bag in cinnamon and get the camera bag in black with ghw only. With the money I save on only purchasing one bag I could invest in something else.

2. Keep both the toy Loulou and camera bag in cinnamon because it would give me more variety

3. Keep toy Loulou and exchange the camera bag for black + ghw as well since I don’t own any other black cross body bags that are practical besides Loulou.


I owned a few other ysl pieces in the past but I’ve learned that I’m actually not a big fan of the chain straps although I won’t mind being able to adding a chain strap to the Loulou for special occasions.

Sorry for the long and disorganized post lol as you could tell my mind is all over the place right now with this and other stuff going on but hopefully this makes sense to you lol

Just got the camera bag in mail today, what do y’all think? My friends said they don’t like how the cinnamon colour blends with my skin tone since I got tanned this summer..

I consider both brown and black to be necessary basics. There are some outfits I couldn't imagine wearing with black, and others I wouldn't wear with brown.

But that depends on your wardrobe. If you don't like the brown and don't think you need a brown bag, then don't keep the cinnamon. If you need brown and love the style, keep it.

I will say that the brown color in your photo looks different than in the ysl photo. Theirs looks more red-toned and richer. Yours looks more taupe. Is that just the way the camera rendered the color in your photo? Would you say that in person it is the same color as the ysl photo or is your photo fairly accurate with the color? If it's a different color than you were expecting, maybe return it and look for a different brown bag if you aren't loving the color.



Ordinarily I would ask if you really need 2 black purses rather than one black and one brown, but since you already bought the small loulou and you will lose money to return it, that complicates things. If you will use it, then I would go ahead and keep it, because it is really cute, but I see what you're saying about it being very small (and therefore less useful maybe). Will it hold your stuff while you go shopping or other errands? Or would you only use it for special events? If would be an "event only" bag, would it be worth it to you or would you think about what else you could have bought instead (minus the $150 return loss)? If you don't like the way it looks on you, that's another strike against it.

As far as the black camera bag goes, how are you liking the brown one's shape, size and style? Are you still thinking you want a black one?

In my experience, I have almost always gotten rid of a bag that did not suit my lifestyle and was not practical for me because I basically never reached for it.
While I do have a couple of special occasion bags that I don't reach for often, they are specifically for those purposes and are happily used for those occasions.

We naturally gravitate for things that work for us.
Reading your post, it feels like you want something more versatile and practical for daily use. It also seems you're not 100% happy with the Loulou and if I were you, I would return it and take the $150 loss. It's much better than taking a loss of hundreds of dollars reselling a bag later down the line. (also now the resale market isn't doing too well and prices are lower than previous years, it's a buyer's market atm)

Regarding the camera bag, I'm not a camera bag girl but the YSL camera bag is loved by many for it's ease of use, practicality, and versatility.

It's funny, I was just coming back on to say almost exactly what @lill_canele said. If you don't think you'll use the loulou and could use that money elsewhere, then you will probably lose less to return it now then you would if you sold it later.

They are both beautiful! I have the toy lou lou in black with black logo and in black with silver logo. I also have the camera bag in black with gold logo. For me, the camera bag is a bit too bulky to wear as an evening bag and too small to wear as an everyday bag and I feel the logo with the large tassel is just too much bling!

I use the two Lou Lous more for special occasions. Not sure if this helps, but I would prob sell the camera bag for a larger bag for daily use.
