Justine Leconte just dropped a new line of bags and SLG:

Project Elixir!

I am not sure it is public already, I got the email this afternoon.
Any thoughts?

I like her YT channel, but I can't say I'm a fan of her clothing collection. And the same goes for the bags and SLGs. The medium-sized leather bag retails for 349 Euros on the website, and while I do understand that she has to keep prices at a certain point to be able to make her items in Europe, but I just don't find any of her designs alluring enough to want to buy.

Also, I'm a bit confused about the materials used. On the website, it says, "Soft nappa bioleather of European origin." I googled bioleather and... it's "sustainable Leather derived from microbes," apparently? So, is it nappa leather or not?

There is one top I have that happens to suit me really well. However, it is already washed out after 1 year, from black to grey. The material is quit flimsy. Would re-buy, for the cut but not impressed by the quality.

Yeah. The same greenwashing she complains about...
Leather, by definition is the skin of an animal, so...
This is probably some glorified plastic, again.

I am not impressed at all.
It really looks like something Ecco would produce.
I'll never understand why these green eco-conscious brands never consider style. Especially now that there is a robust resale market which is much greener than buying new some "microbe generated leather". I mean if that's what you want, feeling greener-than-thou, you can buy some second hand Stella McCartney and that would make you a double plus more better greener person...

And it really isn't cheap...

Still not impressed. I like the girl though.
It looks like the leather is actual leather, the "bio" in "bio-leather" meaning non-chrome tanned, unless I got it wrong...
I would have gotten the wristlet had it been a more reasonable price. I know, I've got wristletitis, help!
I think the collection will do well. Every influencer with a minimum following is able to monetize it nowadays.
And from the comment section, people seem to be interested and ordering. And the timing is good.
So, wishing her the best!

The large bag with the front zipped pocket under the flap is okay, reminded me of a Rebecca Minkoff bag with a similar design. And the compact wallets, too. It does seem like the collection is indeed made of leather, and it's good that JL didn't go for the chrome tanned leather, instead choosing a pricier, but better option. I agree that the bags will probably sell reasonably well. I wouldn't have bought anything, though.

Yes it is nappa leather. I watched the entire video and she explained it’s the way the leather is made. No chrome and toxic chemicals to tan the leather. The cost is tied to the more expensive material process and paying European wages to have it made in Europe. I don’t find the design stylish but her target audience is not those that are style conscious. She is targeting those that want sustainability + functionality as the primary deliverables in the product she is offering.

It would not be that hard to make a little bit of effort in that department. It would widen the potential client base. I could have bought the wristlet had it been a little more stylish.
