Just bought from louis vuitton site, per usual. Got item today, speedy 25 bandoliere in DE. Checked date code on a whim and!!! 53rd week?!? Called client services who told me that the 53 is NOT meant to be what week it was made and item is of course authentic since it came from them. What's your take?

It's an authentic code. There were 53 weeks in 2020. I've found over the years, that you are at the mercy of whomever answers your call at "client services" at Vuitton, and from my experience, can range from clueless to somewhat clueless. Just enjoy your new beauty from LVMH. Congrats !

365/7 = 52.14. So there is always going to be the start of a 53rd week every year, particularly when there is a leap year, as in 2020.
