^^^ Have a look Goofbay.com. They do free e*Bay sniper, you need to register and put your auction number, confirm, and set the price & timing you are happy to commit. You can change the amount or delete it if you change your mind, so it's free commitment until it's executed unlike the actual e*Bay bidding.
I avoid emotional bidding (to keep the price lowest poss) by using sniper, set my max amount 5sec before the end usually and watch how the auction goes...
Obviusly some people keep the hidden ceiling very high then I won't win - I just accept that's how much I wanted.
