They did an amazing job! It was $1,175.00 usd to replace the handles and chapes, as well as redo the interior lining to the newer version. I am incredibly happy with the results. It’s basically a brand new bag again, except with the durable canvas they used to make. There’s a reason it hasn’t cracked in over 30 years.

They sent it back with a new dust bag, a new box, and it even has a new date code.

Thank you for this thread. I have an exact same Sac Plat from the 80s in similar former condition from either my mom or grandmother. I wear it as is. But I've been thinking about upgrading this beautiful piece for years but think it's too much work and wait time. The handles, clasps, and interior all need to be replaced.

Your thread really inspired me because I should get it done. Sooner rather than later. At least I now know ballpark how much this would cost.

Simply amazing !! The cost of restoration I find is still worth it to do, as the prices of new items is currently astronomical. Plus the sentimental value cannot be measured. You just have to be willing to wait months :hrmm:, but the feeling upon receiving it is just as thrilling as if you made a new purchase. Congrats on your "new" Sac Plat !!
