So, I bought a strapless wedding dress. The only embelishments on the dress are swaroski crystals, and there are not a lot of them. The neckline is partially a sweetheart neckline. What type of necklace should I buy/save for? Do I go for crystals, diamonds, or pearls? Should I buy impressive earrings instead? My goal is to have about $1000 dollars to spend. What to do? :confused1:

Congratulations!!! How exciting. I would let you and your dress be the center piece: no necklace! A pair of diamond studs in your ear would be lovely or a bit bigger Swarovski crystal earrings. Then add your e-ring and wedding ring and you will look radiant!

Antiqueshopper- you should totally rent fine jewelry from a site called Adorn. They have beautiful pearl and diamond earrings, bracelets, necklaces. Totally to die for for a fraction of the cost. My sister is renting through theirs after I emailed her about it. Will save her a pretty penny from buying costume jewelery/fine jewelry. :yahoo:

Some eye candy from there to drool over......drip in diamonds

Get something you can get a lot of wear out of. I'm thinking Swarovski - Art Deco style is always gorgeous on brides as it looks classy and timeless and not too fuddy-duddy.

I wouldn't go with pearls - Not sure if they'd go with the crystals on your dress and they can sometimes get lost on brides unless it's a very dramatic piece.

And diamonds? Who's gonna know they're not diamonds but crystals? And you'll get a hell of a lot more crystals for 1000 than diamonds!

So yeah, an Art Deco drop Swarovski pendant, or drop earrings. GORGEOUS!

I think I would have to see a picture of the dress to make the best recommendation but, considering it's a sweetheart neckline I would let the neckline speak for itself and go with pretty earrings and perhaps a simple bracelet.

i have been looking at bridal jewlery from this site, and so far some of the pieces i covet and wish i had now, lol.

there are a few i cant get out of my mind, and i like how on this website you can see how it looks on a person to get a good idea about size.

on their website, their main picture is a model with a strapless and she is wearing a statement bangle and earrings. i think what you would chose to wear depends on if you want your jewelry whisper, speak, or make a statement. i love statement jewelery, but rarely wear it unless its a special occasion, so i would go with speaking or statement jewelry. but i dont think there is a set rule about what you should wear with your dress. its your wedding day, wear whatever your heart desires. :smile1:

I just had another idea! I was just thinking about a jewelry show thing I went to a few weeks ago- Stella and Dot. They have some stuff that would be cool bridal jewelry w/ a vintage feel, but it is costume. However, it was nicely made and pretty stuff. With some things, you'd get so little wear, costume isn't a bad idea in my view.

This is a cool bracelet:

These earrings are neat too:

Link to what they classify as "bridal" stuff:

I wouldn't spend the money on real diamonds unless it's on pieces that you will get a lot of wear out of for the rest of your life. It seems silly to waste that much money on something you'll only wear for that one day.

I highly recommend Charles Winston pieces if you're looking to go the costume jewelry route. I have a few of his items and the quality is just like real. They don't look at all fake. I have a bubble necklace and bracelet of his and a single strand "diamond" necklace with matching earrings that have stones set exactly as real diamonds would be. Nobody wants to look "cheap" on their wedding day and these pieces don't have that feel at all.

I also highly recommend Tacori for Epiphany from QVC and also the regular Epiphany line. I own many Epiphany pieces which are Diamonique (QVC's version of cz essentially) set in sterling silver that's covered in platinum. These pieces also look very real and all of the stones are set just as real diamonds would be. The quality is amazing.
