June will be here next week! I thought it would be fun for June tPFers to share their special birthday-related jewelry and wish each other Happy Birthday!

It’s my birth month and this year will mark the big 5-0 (eek!). I’ve been pre-treating myself with little gifts :giggle: and decided to get a birthstone alexandrite ring. It’s lab-created so wasn’t expensive but I love the color.

Other June birthstones are pearl, moonstone and smoky quartz. June flowers are rose and honeysuckle, and zodiacs are Gemini and Cancer. Please share pics of your baubles, or just say ‘hi’ to fellow June alum!

Here’s my ring in natural and incandescent light (shared in a few other threads so apologies if it’s repetitive!):

Another June story…back in 1986, Vancouver in Canada hosted the World Exposition. I was turning 15 and went with my family. One of the vendors was “Pick an oyster for $10 and keep what’s inside”. I don’t know if this is a thing at fairs…but at the time I thought it was so cool. I was too young to realize that of course they were all planted with beads and probably had barely any nacre on them…it just seemed like a lottery to me!

My mom was also a June baby so we both picked an oyster. I got a 7mm creme one and she got a 6mm gray one. We both had them set in rings. It was the first piece of “real” jewelry I had and meant so much to me.

My mom passed away 5 years ago and I inherited her ring. I was never too happy with the settings (bad jeweller) and have had the pearls removed. I’ve always wanted to combine them into one piece in honor to her but have never seen a design with two different pearls that I’ve liked. Any suggestions welcome!

This is a wonderful story and to make a ring with both is really special. Do you like Toi et Moi rings? Or cuff rings or even a two finger design.

Thank you! That’s the thing…I’ve never been drawn to asymmetrical styles. I was thinking of a wire bangle with the pearls at each end, or maybe somehow making them into a charm I could hang on various necklaces.

I love the bangle idea. If you made them into a charm, they would look fabulous with your locks.

Thank you! I’ve taken them to a jeweller to make to into charms. This way I can wear them on my locks or dangling from hoop earrings! So happy to have finally figured out how to use them. Not like they great quality pearls, but huge sentimental value:heart:

Yes  ! I would love a pair of pearls, I have been looking into it (either studs or dangling, not sure ). Does anyone have good suggestions of vendors with a European branch ?

Happy birthday! Imho, I think pearls dangling from hoops looks so classic, cute, and modern all at the same time! But then again I wear mini hoops 24/7 so I got my pearls made into charms so I can use them like the pic below. Sorry I don’t know of any European vendors to recommend…for sure you’ll find some in the Pearl Lovers thread.

I picked up my pearl charms and am very happy to be able to wear the pearls representing my mom and I together. Can dangle them from hoops or from my necklace lock. Love that they are different sizes, colors and bails…think it creates a unique look. And very meaningful to me:heart:

Love them. They look wonderful on the ear and as charms on your necklace.
