i've been thinking about jumping on the bandwagon of getting a birkin recently..
I wonder what's a good size for a girl like me who is almost 6ft tall.. will a 25cm be too small?
someone teach me the lingo when ordering on the phone? lol! (:

tjiesiew you may have some good luck at seeing some birkins on the shelf in your town. Try to develop a relationship with an SA and frequent the boutique so that you can be there when they are put on the shelves. Good luck!

By your location it looks like you are in Vegas. You've got two great H boutiques within easy walking distance of each other. Before you commit to a size, you might want to stop into either or both and try on a few sizes to see what works best for you.

What size is best also depends on how much you intend to carry when toting your Birkin (is it an everyday bag? special occasion bag? are you going to carry everything but the kitchen sink? or just a wallet, keys, phone? etcetc)

if you're almost 6ft, 25 is almost definitely too small. i'm 5'9 and i feel, in terms of proportion, a 30 is pushing it. the handles on the 25 are shorter so that makes it slightly harder to carry and in my opinion, only suitable for night...

I agree, you will need to try them on. It depends on what you plan to use it for. Many people consider the 35 to be a very classic size. You should determine what will best fit your needs.

I think at 6ft you would look great with a 35 B or even a 40 for day and only the 30 or 25 for evening in croc or lizard. Good Luck!
Couldn't agree more! I'm 5'10" athletic/average build and I bought a gold (love the color) 30cm Birkin. I feel it's too small for me, especially for everyday. Wish I had of bought a 35/40cm. Never use it...expensive mistake. Try them on before you decide. Good luck and keep us posted.

wow.. thanks girls! is there any site online that I can learn what colors and what skins there are? I'm a little intimidated to go down to the Hermes store in Las Vegas and start asking a bunch of questions..

I only have four (one 35, one 36 HAC, and two 40's), and I'm only 5' 4". Everything else seems too small for me, but it is personal preference. You, being super-model height, would look good in anything.......

Look at the reference section here. You will learn so much more here than in the boutique. What color are you interested in?

ITA with hermesmonkey regarding the reference section. take ur time and browse through the pics under 'colour', 'leather', and 'styles'. have an idea of what ur preferences r. however, the best way to really understand what suits u best is to go down to the boutique... ask to see the leather samples, touch/feel what each leather is like.. or u can buy some small accessories in the leather/colour u'r interested, see how u like it down the road before making the big birkin purchase.

sometimes the boutique might even have birkins on display that u can try on to see what size fits u best. i'm 5'3 and found a 30 B too small... went with the 35 and LOVE it! 25 is definitely way too small for u if u'r 6ft tall!

Both locations had Birkins when I visited a week ago. And both were quite happy to take out bags (even exotics) from the back to show to walk-ins like me. The Encore location even readily offered to send me (overseas) bags in the future so being local, they are likely to call you when they have something to interest you. Just be friendly and show an interest in all things Hermes in general, not just a fixation on Birkins.
