Joan Rivers 1933-2014 "Can we talk....?"

This quote is from the NY Mag article, on why she doesn't retire:

People always ask Rivers why she doesn’t just retire, enjoy her old age. “But they don’t get that I love it,” she says. “All I ever wanted was this. I’m lucky, you idiots.” Here, she imitates her society-lady friends. “ ‘We’re going to the Kentucky Derby and then taking cooking lessons in Venice and then we are going on so-and-so’s boat and then perhaps five fun days with a group to the Galápagos!’ And you go, Why? I’ve done all that crap. That’s not retirement to me. That’s death.”

I just heard something I didn't know about Joan. First off, I think we all know of her tireless work ethic. This came from Anderson Cooper, that she did a lot of work in small clubs as it was testing out material for big shows, but all the money she has made lately was for her charity, God's Love We Deliver. I love her more and more...

Joan Rivers May Have Died From Propofol Like Michael Jackson

Claims were made that the same drug that was blamed for the death of Michael Jackson, the King of Pop, was received by the Queen of Comedy, Joan Rivers.

According to The Guardian Liberty Voice, during sedation for an endoscopic procedure, she slipped into a coma and didn't come out of it. As an anaesthetic, she was administered propofol that is used for simple medical procedures and is considered the cause of death for Michael Jackson.

Hospital staff confirmed that propofol is a drug used for endoscopy and colonoscopy procedures. The drug was even referred to as the Michael Jackson's drug.

The medical personnel conducting the procedure hadn't realized until the surgery was almost ending that Rivers' oxygen level was decreasing and though it was unclear what led to her having issues with breathing, it could be propofol. Propofol has a tendency of creating an error between respiratory arrest and sedation.

The clinic has admitted that if the drug wasn't given correctly, it could cause death in the patient. They have also said that they had followed the proper and legal protocols that need to be taken into consideration before administering the drug.

Her death could have also been due to an anaesthetic or a complication of the procedures. Attempts at stabilizing Rivers, including trying to place a tube down her throat to get her to breathe again, remained unsuccessful.

Yorkville Endoscopy. where Joan's procedure took place, is currently being investigated by the Department of Health in New York. The staff claim that under the effect of anaesthesia, Rivers had stopped breathing. Paramedics were called who performed CPR after in which she started breathing, though she was still considered to be in bad shape.

An ear, nose and throat specialist was present during the procedure despite him not being authorized to practice medicine at the clinic. He was invited by Rivers' gastroenterologist. Before and after the gastroenterologist performed the endoscopy, the ENT specialist examined Rivers' voice box.

The two, ENT as well as the gastroenterologist, have not been accused of any wrongdoing though the ENT was unauthorized to be present at the clinic.

Some idiot released an audio of what was supposedly a recording session that Joan Rivers did the morning of her procedure. On the recording, she's really hoarse and complains of a sore throat and coughs really hard, apologizing and asking if they could start over. The recording was a hoax - although the voice sounded similar to Joan, I didn't think it was her and sounded like an impersonator. I just can't believe some whack job could do something so cruel to Melissa and Cooper and all of the people who are mourning Joan's loss.

ETA: I'm surprised its still on YouTube & hasn't been taken down.

Joan Rivers last recording session video is a fake, rep insists

NEW YORK – A raspy YouTube video has surfaced that some media outlets are reporting is one of the final recordings of Joan Rivers. In the audio, the voice can be heard complaining “My voice has been bothering me. I don’t know what it is.” A rep for the late TV icon is adamant the recording is a fake.

"The recording is a fraud," her rep told FOX411. "Joan never made any such tape."

Rivers, who was by no means slowing down when it came to her career, died on Sept. 4 at the age of 81 after she suffered complications following a medical procedure at a New York City clinic.

The audio posted on YouTube, titled “Joan Rivers [sic] Last Session” is supposedly a meant to promote the play “My Son the Waiter, a Jewish Tragedy,” starring Brad Zimmerman.

"This is a publicity stunt that was created by Brad Zimmerman and his public relations representative, Beck Lee, and is wholly disrespectful to the memory of Joan Rivers," Rivers' rep charged.

A coughing voice can be heard saying, “I told [you] I didn’t feel good. My voice has been bothering me. I don’t know what it is … I feel like s- -t. I’m tired already.”

The YouTube account that posted the video is titled “Brad Mysonthewaiter” and has only ever posted one video. No information about the account is posted in the “About” section on YouTube.

A rep for Zimmerman did not immediately return FOX411’s request for comment about the authenticity of the recording.

Source: Joan Rivers' doctor took selfie, began biopsy before her cardiac arrest

The cardiac arrest leading to Joan Rivers' death happened as the comedian's personal doctor began performing a biopsy on her vocal cords, a source close to the death investigation told CNN.

A staff member at Manhattan's Yorkville Endoscopy clinic told investigators that the doctor, who has not been publicly identified, took a selfie photo in the procedure room while Rivers was under anesthesia, the source said.

Rivers, 81, was at the clinic for a scheduled endoscopy by another doctor, gastroenterologist Dr. Lawrence Cohen. That procedure, intended to help diagnose her hoarse voice and sore throat, involved the insertion of a camera down her throat.

After Cohen, the clinic's medical director, finished his work, a biopsy was done on Rivers without her prior consent, according to the source.

An ear, nose and throat specialist not certified by the clinic as required by law performed a biopsy on her vocal cords. The doctor is described by the source as Rivers' personal ear-nose-throat physician.

"Even though you are a licensed physician, you still should have, if you will, the checks and balances to get your approval to practice in that particular place," said Dr. Arthur Caplan, a medical ethicist at New York University's Langone Medical Center.

Investigators believe that Rivers' vocal chords began to swell during the allegedly unauthorized biopsy, cutting off the flow of oxygen to her lungs, which led to cardiac arrest on the morning of August 29, the source said.

Rivers, 81, was rushed by paramedics from Yorkville Endoscopy to New York's Mount Sinai Hospital a mile away, where she died a week later.

Yorkville Endoscopy issued a statement last Thursday denying reports that any vocal cord biopsy has ever been done at the clinic, although federal privacy law prevented any patient information from being released.

The day after the denial was issued, the clinic confirmed that Dr. Cohen "is not currently performing procedures...nor is he currently serving as medical director."

The source said that at this time neither Cohen nor the ear, nose and throat doctor have been accused of wrongdoing by investigators.

The clinic declined to respond to the source's comments about a biopsy or a selfie, citing federal privacy law.

The idea of a dr. taking a selfie in this situation makes me sick. One of my thoughts on the tragedy was what if those seconds were the difference between saving Joan when her vocal cords began swelling shut and losing precious time?

Joan deserved so much better than the mess this is turning out to be. The only thing she would be happy about is being in the news 2 weeks after her death.

We reached out to Doctor Korovin's office and were told, "We do not comment on matters related to patients."
