At the end of the month, we will be traveling to Aruba for a wedding and it'll be our very first international trip as a family of 4 (DH, 3 year old and 6 month old). It's my first time in Aruba too, not to mention first international trip in over 25 years.

I like the idea of getting a jewelry-something in Aruba, that will serve as a souvenir for the trip and mark the milestone of our family. Nothing too expensive, definitely under $1000.

Easy thing to do would be to add a charm to my modest Pandora bracelet (I've added charm for each of my sons, Christmas, Valentines Day, etc) but wondering if there might be a more exciting option.

I haven’t been to Aruba myself, but I know with other tropical places like Hawaii and Vietnam, local freshwater pearls were nice souvenir jewelry. I didn’t buy when I was in Hawaii because I was still in school at the time. But I did buy a sterling silver pearl necklace from Vietnam.

Hi! I’ve been to Aruba twice and it’s a lovely place. Super great prices on jewelry and I have purchased many pieces there. The first time I went, I did not know what to expect, and it was jewelry heaven for me. The second time I went, I was already dreaming of what I wanted to get.

I would suggest this... if you are a jewelry lover, I would think of a piece you want and get it in Aruba (e.g. sapphire ring, pearls). Everytime you look at it, it will remind you of the trip.

If you want a souvenir item tied to the Carribean, may I suggest a Fire Opal or Emerald. Fire Opals are from Mexico and Colombian Emeralds can be found in the Carribean. There is really no iconic jewelry associated with Aruba as there is with the Carribean such as fire opal or Larimar.

I have done both, and I love the pieces I purchased in Aruba that was on my jewelry wish list. When I wear them, I always remember I got them in Aruba and it puts a smile on my face.

My souvenir pieces are fun, but I wear them more as a souvenir memory and not so much because I truly love the piece.

I hope that makes sense.
I wish you a great trip. It’s a lot of fun.
