Jewelry store diamond studs spec question

Hello. I was wondering what type of stone jewelry stores carry. The only specs that are noted on the price tag is Color/Carat/Clarity. It has no info on cut. But they are very sparkly, prob due to lighting. I've seen diamond studs on Samsclub website around 2,000 for 1ctw/I/SI2-1 but it also doesn't have info on cut. I've been on blue nile (build your own) and love how specific the info is. I've built a similar (samsclub) pair but in G/SI2/Ideal cut/1ctw for $200 more but set in platinum.

I just want to see it in person before I purchase them and I hate to wait for it (almost 2 weeks for bluenile). And I was wondering even tho bluenile prices are great if jewelry store stones are just as nice. Thanks

I bought Kwiat studs from Nordstrom. They were already platinum, though I had to buy platinum backings because for some bizarre reason they come with white gold.

Anyway...they were H-ish color and Si1-Si2 clarity, and I have louped them with a 30x loupe and only barely found one inclusion in one stud.

They are lovely.

And they have a trade up policy as well.

I think I read your post on them. You bought them during the anniv sale right? I might have u confused with another member, but I remember reading about it. Anyways I am trying to stay away from name brand such as kwiat and roberto coin cento because I know that they are super expensive and I could probably only afford like .25 ctw with $2000. I was curious about the diamonds they carry that aren't brand named.

im kind of confused as to what your question is. a jewelery store should be able to get just as good of stones as a designer brand. you just have to ask for them.

and a loupe will only help you if you know what your looking for

Confusing I know. Sorry.

Finks for example. Finks carry all sorts of designers. Like Roberto Coin, David Yurman, Ritini, Tacori, etc....

Then they have diamond studs which are super expensive for name brand but they also carry non name brand. I guess it's like Fink's diamonds. They aren't as good cause usually I see H/I in color and usually SI/I in clarity. But I want to know if the cut is as good. I've notices that Roberto Coin Cento studs are expensive bc the cut is suppose to be very very good. Am I making any sense? Sorry

Yep that's me!
I paid ~$700 for .33ctw since they were on the anniv sale at that time. Next year or the following I might do the little "upgrade" plan if they allow that during anniversary.

Are you opposed entirely to buying online? You will get a better deal online, just due to less overhead but if you would prefer to buy local, just go in there and be armed with information about cut quality. You don't need higher clarity at all. SI 1-2 is sufficient, and you can even to as low as J-K color and from afar no one will know any better. Just focus on cut. Tell the jeweler your budget including settings, and what your specs are and see what they show you. I am not an advocate of BGD or WF but I do know that for $2k you can probably do pretty well.

In fact, quick and dirty WF search for ready-set-go studs (NOT upgradable):
http://www.whiteflash.com/diamond-earrings/3-prong-martini-diamond-earrings-ready-set-to-go-866.htm
http://www.whiteflash.com/diamond-e...amond-basket-earrings-ready-set-to-go-357.htm

or you can buy the settings separately and the diamonds separately. Call them or email them about available sizes for your budget. I am far from their biggest fan, but I know they do sell preset stuff.

Btw, do u own a loupe? I just recently bought a 10x loupe but it does nothing for me.

I do, I use a 10x and a 30x and I also have access to a microscope that ranges from 60x and up :) I loupe my rings daily with the 30x.

I think I am just going to order from blue nile. That's where my husband ordered my ering. So which set look better? DH says to just get the .94 and save $300 that they r just earrings. Also he said I should have them set in white gold instead of plat. My husband is usually the picky one. My ring center stone is D/VVS1/SIGNATURE IDEAL/1CTW set in plat. Not sure why he isn't helping much with the selection of my studs. I would like to get larger studs (2 or 3 ctw) but I am pretty sure that will be in 20 years or so....

Really either one. The 1ct, the symmetry is better, even if just by a hair.

Only get white gold if you know you are not sensitive to the metal. I cannot wear gold so I have to get plat.
