I admit, I am not a big jewelry girl, most days I am lucky to remember to put on my wedding set (currently not on, forgotten as I dashed out this morning)...I have some very lovely pieces that have been passed down to me and some that my hubby has given me through the years...yet nothing has really ever 'clicked'...so there is a piece I wear day in day out...

but some how I wish I had one. I am always buying something I think I LOVE, but wear it a few times to a few months max and then in the jewelry box it goes.

I loved the stacked look the Gwen rocks in Country Strong. I love the wayshe mixes some really nice pieces and everyday pieces and the causal elegance she wears them for everyday. She stacks her necklaces, bracelets and rings.

So my question is could the average Jane (me) pull off this look or would it look silly IRL?

Didn't want to blow anyone out on pic size, she wears 2 tennis necklaces and a pendant, on her wrist she wears 2 tennis bracelets, a black macrame/diamond bracelet and a couple other similar bracelets. Her rings she wears a band, an engagement ring and a couple of eternity bands.

I realized I didn't ctually answer your question. I'm an "average jane" and I layer no problem. Bow i don't know if I could pull off layering bold blingy pieces like that. Bit I usually have two necklaces on, a watch and a bracelet on one arm, and my pandora on the other. When I go out I often have either a few bracelets on my right arm or a wide cuff and a watch and a bracelet or two on the other. i don't stack my rings. well I guess I do in the sense that when I wear my wedding set I have the diamond band I wear everyday, then my first wedding band, then my ering, then the last wedding band. But normally I don't layer rings.
In a way I agree with Candice0985 too though. If I'm going heavy on the bracelets, I might still layer necklaces, but they are thinner less bold ones.

I love the layered look, and I think it is fine for "average" people as well as celebrities. Even if the pieces are fabulous, it somehow looks effortless when they are all put together. I agree that if I do bold bracelets I will go with finer necklaces, although I think it is fine to layer in more than one spot - it all depends on the pieces and the overall look. It does NOT look silly IRL, and it would look great on you, tink!

Thanks :)

I have a few items coming via fed ex this AM to try out ;)

If you want to start out small...stack diamond eternity bangles. 2WG/2YG...I wear these everyday and IMHO it's not too much. In fact I'm thinking of getting a colored stone eternity bangle to stick in the middle.
