Jewelry on Ebay? ever got any great deals?

I was just checking out rings on Ebay.

I was wondering how one could check it it's real or not?
I've been looking at ruby, saphire and diamond rings,
some are lovely and 'look' old and vintage/antique, some are amazing prices too...
was just wondering if anyone has scored any great ebay deals?!

I havent bought any jewellery off ebay but I did sell a £700 Links of London silver charm braclet for £400,so someone got a good deal on a beautful braclet!

I've gotten several really great deals off eBay, but you really have to be careful. Make sure the seller is willing to take back the item if it's not as stated. And as soon as you get it, take it to a jewelers to check it out.

I got my mom an emerald/diamond ring for less than $500 and it's a huge emerald (can't remember the exact specs but the size of your middle fingernail at least), and it was supposed to be set in white gold, but when we got it it clearly stated platinum inside. We took it to a jewelers and they verified that it was platinum.

I've also gotten a 1.5 ct diamond, VVS2, J color for less than $2000. This one was a total gamble since the seller had very little feedback, but he was willing to take it back. The specs on the auction were actually for a 1.74 ct diamond, clarity SI1 and color F. I took it to my jeweler and a couple others actually, and they all verified that it was real and when I had it reset they re-graded it to the specs I listed first.

I would be VERY cautious. You never know if what you're getting is the same item in the picture.

I buy a lot on ebay. But only from sellers with a lot of good feedback. I always bring the jewelry to my jeweler to get an estimate value and check if it is authentic. All my items so far have been worth twice the price paid for. Some have been tree times the value. So I have been very lucky. Jewelry in Norway is very expensive so always better to buy from abroad though. I have bought three rings, one necklace and one pair of earrings. (from different sellers) All have turned out to be good deals

Paid about 400 dollars for this ring. My jeweler made a certificate and the value is 1500..
