Hi Ladies,

Has any of you shipped your jewelery back to the jeweler for repairs and did you buy insurance for shipping? Fedex told me that they only cover up to $1000....and if it's lost they will only compensate up to $1000.

Thanks!!

I always use USPS registered mail and pay the extra amount for the insurance. According to the counter rep, it has to be accounted for (possibly signed?) by every person who touches it. They also use special brown tape and tape and stamp all the open-able edges so that no one can tamper with it without it being visible.

Must be registered mail shipped because everyone that comes near it signs it in and out. It's worth the cost and worth the insurance cost.

I have shipped with FedEx and insured for $2500 without a problem, but whenever possible I do USPS Registered.

The brown tape mentioned above is vital and they will not ship it without it being paper taped.
